What did you eat on Easter?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

well i was actually away camping on easter sunday so our menu was a bit muddled. It consisted of:

Breakfast-
-leftover sausages
-scrambled eggs
-leftover steak
-leftover spaghetti bolognaise (spellcheck)
-coffee

Lunch was at a small roadhouse on our way back:
-Fish and Chips
-Bottle of Mt Franklin mineral water

Then we had major car trouble and ended up getting stuck in this small hick town 4 hours from home, we had to eat dinner in the local pub which was nice, it consisted of:
-Chicken Carbonara
-Steak Sandwiches
-Potato Wedges
-Garlic Bread
-Numerous pints of Tooheys Extra Dry Beer

We ended up getting home at 3am after a hair raising night drive thru the country, we hit two kangaroos (didn't damage the car, we were in a huge SUV with a Roo Gaurd) and since we were towing a trailer with a car on it we had to drive at 20 kilometres slower than the speed limit (110)

It was a good Easter camping trip tho, i climbed the higest peak in western australia (Bluff Knoll) whihc was hard but very rewarding when you got to the top. I went with a bunch of my mates and we had an absolute ball.....until Simons car went *kaput splat*

Hope you all had good Easter holidays too.
Matt

Sounds sort of like my incident ABComatic! We use a soundtrack at my church on CD that the choir sings to. I played the wrong track on the CD. The choir director turned around and gave me this weird look, and they didn't start singing...then I realized I had started the wrong song!

Sensitive, schmensitive, it is very important that we all learn as much as possible about the various cultures and religions that abound in this great country of ours.

Jason this one is for you

Ok now you asked for it. HERE WE GO.

The illustrious Toggleswitch is now entering a zone of egostistical, self-centered, arrogant pride.

Follow me.

My sisters and I got together for Easter Sunday, which for us is today 23-Apr-2006

We went to Yiayia (grandma)Bubbles house. It's a nickname the grandkids came up with. Her chosen American name is Betty since she landed in the USA in 1952.

Here is Yiayia's house in New York City.
Hi Queens! I grew up here.

So here begins the jouney into Toggle's Easter, and the mouth-watering foods that are a part of it.

Pay attention all you Taurus-es put there, because your birthdays are right about now, and since you guys are all about gathering physical sensation, like good food and good aesthetics this should be a great bit of fun for you.

(ducks and runs, LOL).

Easter, to us, is by far the biggest, most meaningful and most important holiday. The rituals that surround it are magnificent.

Yiaya Bubble's little shrine happens to show an icon of the ressurection on the left and Mother Mary on the right.

I personally don't like the silver and gold clad version of Saints, but the faces and hands are never covered as that would be like idolatry which is a big no-no. Icons are venrerated NOT worshipped, they serve to trigger a reminder of events and people. Period.

In the center is an electrified version of a hanging traditional oil-burning votive light/lamp.

So now that I have set-up the scenario, let's get to what was for dinner.

Appetizers- Feta cheese.

I know, what a shock, what a surpise. A gourmet goat's milk cheese. What can I say? It comes with the territory

*LOL*

Tsoureki (sweet) holiday bread.
Mystery spices- masticha and mahlep(i). It's too involved. Look it up. *LOL*

Kasseri cheese
Calamata black olives (never EVER pitted or from a can!)
Over roasted potanoes.
Spanakopita(spinach-pie) This is one with home-made dough. (I have posted the recipe before, 2 versions IIRC).
