Love that pattern, Gary. "Black Trefoil" was the first to appear on the Electromatic line and made from 1960-65, according to the Corning collector's bible. They mention the Electromatic percs came in 10 cup and 6 cup versions but I don't think I've ever seen a 6 cupper - have you? Congrats on the good score!

The glue problem seems to have been with entirely or at least a majority of the later versions of the coffee makers where the entire chrome top was glued onto the pyroceram container with no lip at the very top that protruded out over the chrome handle-band. These were made beginning in 1973. I've had lots of these over the years and have never come across even a loose screw in the handle. That is not to throw caution to the wind however, these are heavy pots even without being full of hot coffee so appropriate care should be used - as with any vintage appliance!

Thanks for the picture, Gary - I've never seen one of those before. Something new to hunt for!

Andy, that GE is just beautiful. No more drag-around-tragedies for you with that swivel top!

Louis, does your friend collect only German pottery or from all over? Very nice looking on your table like that, adds a lot of color!

Thanks Gary!!

I vegly remembered the recall because my Aunt Margaret had to send hers back and replaced it with a drip coffee maker. She had considered a Mr.Coffee or GE auto drip but, like myself, prefered the percolating type instead of drip. Her reasoning? She enjoyed watching the coffee perk through the little see through cap on the lid.Not long after that,I found her a Pyrex
