Mites in action...

Here is a movie of dust mites feasting in yeast flakes. Picture quality on YouTube is always a problem, but the mites are the shiny things that move around.

Now, I see from your wall art that dust mites have 8 legs. So are they arachnids rather than insects? All the more reason to be utterly repulsed by them.

I didn't have the stomach to view the video. I'll take your word for it that it's disgusting!

Yes, mites have 8 legs and they are more related to spiders than to insects. Those dust mites are really quite harmless, except for people that have an allergy of course but that is also true for more acceptable pets as cats.

Dust mites!

Has anyone read "The Secret House"? It's a microscopic look at all the stuff going on around you that you'd rather not know about. Fascinating stuff--you'd be surprised what happens when you roll over in bed!

Joe that was just great!! I really enjoyed the video, the media center looks like a nice relaxing place, well organized, and inviting. Very much what I feel students need today. I was an elementary teacher for lots of years and always tried to make my class area as warm and inviting as possible. Great job!! Terry

So here is what I want to know and I want the truth..

Did all you guys clean your offices before taking these pictures or are they always that unnaturally clean and orderly. If mine looked that clean I wouldn't be able to find anything and my folks would probably rush me to the hospital for fear something was wrong with me.

Did I clean?

No, I follow my friend Jane's advice; you only clean for overnight guests from non-adjacent states.

To borrow a quote from Carol Burnett, my desk always looks like "the inside of a goat's stomach."

These flowers have nothing to do with what I do all day.

Well, as some of you may know, I am a Service Technician for Hawaiian Isles Kona Coffee Co. My job is to drive around Maui Island to service and repair coffee and beverage machines. The types of machines I work on are commonly found at inconvience stores and restaurants. Today I had to go service a "cappucino" machine [Read: Sugar Delivery Device] at Hana Gas and my plan was to bring my camera along so I could takes some good jungle shots and just generally gloat about living in paradise. Of course I forgot the camera this morning. (Sh*t!)
From my door to Hana is only 57 miles but the drive takes three hours. Each way. The road is twisty, up and down, with 54 one lane bridges. By the time I got home, my Aloha was stretched pretty thin.
I did swing by one of the many roadside stands and got these flowers for Dennis (he is home with a cold this week). The whole bunch was only $5.00! And they say living in Hawai'i is expensive!
The tag on the cellophane the flowers were wrapped in said they are from Hana Fantasy Company-Exotic Hawaiian Flowers Shipped Anytown, USA. I've included a linkie should you also be in the mood for that sort of thing.

I'd show you my workspace, but...

Let me put it this way... I set out a mouse trap over a month ago on a bookcase near my desk. A week after I set it, it went missing. Today I finally found it... I traced the odor of decomposing mouse. Well, at least it's gone now...!

Machine shops are generally pretty dark, dirty, smelly, and dreary. It's amazing how beautiful objects of metal come out of such environments, but they do. From what I've seen, this is one of the messier shops, but I'm told there are worse, lol.

Hello!i finally got to take pics. Everybody's job sites are so interesting. i want to fly, be a truck driver for a day, have a nice view like robert's office... just wishing...ohh the dust mites were kind of creepy but very interesting... learned that mites are on my face mmm wow! Well i got my new job in town after six years at the other company. I was harrassed for sexual orientation by two nazi f***ks. they were the owners. mind you, i really trusted them until i saw how they really were and just would not put up with it anymore. On the good side of it, it was a very nice appliance store and i learned alot from some good people there, well after five months of being out of work (thanks to a good friend in the buisness) i started working for him in october and what a big difference. I can enjoy my work without the bull.. so much less stress. Well i have a good bose how listens and teach well thats a plus I talk about product all day thats what i do and everybody at the new job likes the automaticwasher site. That said im much happier now.And i can view the site all day (breaktime that is) lol.Well this is what we're here for. here's a little machinery ..just new stuff and some surprises. Darren k
