Thanks to John in Phoenix we now have a Whirlpool World washer('92-'94 model) to play with. Interesting little machine....4 water levels,4 water temp combinations, Two speed it says.

The washer agitating- I am surprised by the size load it can turn over. The sound of it agitating some how reminds me of sawing wood. Lol

Does a fairly good job of extracting water but there are no spray rinses at all-just one deep rinse. Even has a lint filter and it's not a Magic-clean either.

My very first washing of my own was a Kenmore World Washer, I got it for my 10th birthday! I think it's a neat little machine and performs quite surprisingly well! Mine however doesn't have the cool top and fill like this yours does! Mine fills directly into the outer tub and unfortunately the inner tub is all white. (BORING!!!) However, it's a rather dramatic washer, I love the sounds it makes, I could just do without the tub brake after the final spin. I think my machine needs a new brake pad or something as when the machine does stop from the spin, the whole unit turns about a quarter turn and I'm afraid that it will break the hoses off!

Roger that is such a cute little machine!! It will sure be fun to have for those "little loads". Thanks for sharing the neat pictures.

Jamie put your casters in those rubber furniture foot pads that prevent furniture from mauling a harwood floor, i had a little sanyo in apartment in New Orleans. It too would "skate" when it screeched to a stop. Seems the heavier the load the wider arc it will travel.

That is too cute, Roger. Does it have normal water-hose connections for permanent install or is it a portable? The portable with the controls on the front was DOA - motor & pump ran fine but nothing else. The pump was scavenged for the KDC-14 dishwasher - good little pump ;-)

Thanks for the pics - never saw that in this part of the country.

I had one of those as well...bought as a close-out for >200. Worked fine, narrow but deep tub. Strange spin--would accelerate then coast. Had it in an unheated garage laundry area and figured since it was the World Washer it would work better with potential freeze/thaw than more "normal" machines (I asked Frigidaire about freeze/thaw on their (then new) front loaders and the "spaghetti sucking" was evident ("oh, we don't advise that..."). It replaced a mid-70s center dial Maytag which handled the freeze/thaw OK, though it was a little slow to get going in the cold...I wasn't in the mood at the time to buy another.

this looks exately lika a very commun washer we have here in Brazil, just with the diference that the inner tub here is made in stainless steel, and, as all of our washers, it doesn't have hot fill and diferent temperatures!

According to an 'Appliance Magazine' article I remember reading in the late 80's the WP World Washer was to be produced in three countries: India, Brasil and Mexico. There were to be variations to suit each market and manufacturing plant. For example, the Mexican machines were to have a vitreous enamel cabinet top and the Brasilian ones a plastic top. It would be interesting to know what happened in the various countries.

That's a neat washer. it kind of looks like a Staber washer outside but it is vertical-axis.(Staber washers are top-loading but they a horizontal-axis.)I've also seen a video of the agitation and it sounds like a Fisher & Paykel machine.(Also the Kenmore Oasis, Whirlpool Cabrio, and Maytag Bravos.)

I would love to have one

works like the Sears one but this whirlpool is maximally flexible
as it has a dial to set the cycles

Ed hession has a sears electronic on sale at the storefront

picture was taken before Tim put it out on the salesfloor but it sits next to the Sanyo portable dryer

Great pictures Roger. I enjoyed watching the machine wash.
In some ways it is different but in many ways the same
as other Whirlpools. Great machine!!!!

Hi Mike,
Yes the underside looks a lot like yours. The tub indexes in this washer too....forgot to mention that.
Greg,
It has a regular water valve so it can be connected to hot and cold water.
Here is a towel load from tonight.
