'81 filter flo

my longest owned constant service washer is a 1981 filter flo-had it since 1991,so far repairs needed have included:
-boot replaced a couple times(an aftermarket replacement did not last to well, was replaced with new GE boot...)
-pump replaced
-motor replaced
-clutch rebuilt
-tranny repair
-agitator replaced

I don't have a washer collection, sigh.

But it did occur to me that the washer I'm using now is probably over 20 years old, and it has served me longer than any vintage washer I've used. Prepare to shudder, washer fans, because it's an early 1990s Frigidaire that got dumped in my laundry room at some point. I've used it twice, actually. I was elsewhere on this property, where the Frigidaire originally lived. Then, I moved...and the Frigidaire at some point followed me (was dumped in my current laundry room). My total use is probably about 3 years.

Runner up might be a Kenmore DD which I used for nearly 10 years. But it would have been vintage a very short time (if at all) during the time I used it.

Other vintage machines were less than a year (late 60s Kenmore, unknown vintage BD Whirlpool).

Mine would be a 1958 Maytag. I found this at an estate sale still hooked up and in use. The house was about the same vintage, so it's quite possible this washer had sat in the same place for it's 50+ years of service and appears to have been well cared for. This old gal was quite happy where she was and didn't take too well to be uprooted and moved! When I removed the drain hose from the standpipe, the hose literally crumbled in my hands! Once home and tested, there was a leak at the injector, again the rubber hose was toast. Replaced this, tried another water test and found a little drip where the tub to pump hose connects to the tub. I gave a little twist just to see if the hose clamp was loose and the entire drain spout--rust, water, and all came off in my hand :( I replaced the outer tub, thoroughly cleaned and lubed everything and THOUGHT I was back in business. About the second load washed, the motor went up in smoke! Ebayed me a motor and happily to say, my washer which is only 1 year newer than I am, is sloshing along faithfully. She doesn't get used too often, but she sure is fun when she does!

Coppertone Kenmore

My Kenmore pair has been faithful to me ever since I bought them for my 40th b'day 11 years ago. Found them at a used appliance store in Phoenix, the store clerk said that they were found on a curb ready to go to the crusher. So the store picked them up, gave them a tuneup, and I've never had a problem. The Kenmore 800 washer seems to be a rare one, I haven't seen another like it.
