Come With Me, Way Back In Time...!
Just for the sake of simplicity, ease of service, plenitude of available parts, a wealth of features, a familiar brand name, (not something too off-the-wall), reasonable energy (water efficiency, short of a front-loading mach.) usage & operating costs, a good-to-excellent (outstanding, w/ proper care?) repair/service record, decent performance, & most likely able to buy at a good price, while still having a reserve of cash for the rest of my appliances to be this good:
A Whirlpool LXA 6700 washer & whatever matching dryer with a side or drop-down door (doesn't matter to me, really) in probably Harvest Gold (really dig a WARM color, which never got as out-dated as brown or green) and I do believe it's a large, 18-LB cap. as I have a Consumer Reports or two testing it (giving it 3rd-place, below the Maytag & Frigidaire washers)...
Would probably like my fridge to be an Amana Side X Side w/ the three doors & the ice and water disp. between the two freezer sections (even though it probably wouldn't deliver CRUSHED ice), a Kitchen Aid Imperial (or maybe Superba) dishwasher (built by Hobart, of course)--(though they didn't get the best reviews, citing the filters were hard to clean, dropped-flatware retrieval was hard, and performance was only Fair-to-Good) and whatever good gas range there'd be w/ a self-cleaning oven and five burners like what I've got now (don't know if you could get BOTH "back then")... Maybe a | N | O | R | G | E | 20 cu. ft. upright manual defrosting freezer, (if needed) too!...
