Most Maytag Washers between 1970 and 1989 followed by 1980s Kenmore belt drives.
@panasonicvac: I'm drooling over that washer. The best washer ever made overall, with the best fabric combinations ever offered of any TL washer ever made. Infinite water level control, true ATC, warm deep rinse option, true 4/6/8 pole motor, fine delicates handwash, real permanent press cool down, prewash, soak, extra rinse, 49 increment timer with 7.5/6 degrees per step, dual action agitator, softener dispenser, all in a long life platform. Only gripe is the lack of spin spray in the first spin of the ultra clean and PP cycles but other than that your machines makes me so envious LOL! I can certainly understand your love for that washer, and I will add you have great taste!

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, my favorite washer of all time was our 1974 Frigidaire 1-18. If it had a fault, it would be that it was kinda noisy. Next or the list are these machines:
2. 1980's TOL Whirlpool direct drive.
3. 1970 Maytag 806--Other than design and reliability, there really was nothing that stood out about its performance.
4. 2008 Electrolux TOL front-loader. The rear end seals and bearings went out in six years. But, it was a great performer.
1964 Lady Kenmore Piano Key TOL. Enough options to cause feature paralysis. I would have rated it number 2 if it weren't for the anemic spin of the belt drive machines.
5. Fisher-Paykel Aqua-Smart performed well but was less than gentle on clothes.

Solid Tub Filter-Flo
My favorite washer is the solid tub GE Filter-Flo. My Mom had a 1960 model, which she used until 1968. She got a new Filter-Flo and gave it old one to my Grandmother, who used it for twenty more years!!! (It was still working when she died.)
