Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Last activity for today - the control dial was not pointing the right position on the timer dial so I had to adjust it. After all, it can hardly be considered an automatic washer if one can't be sure what phase of the cycle it's in!

I'm leaving it at this for now - the sun came out in Ogden and we have a fallen tree to remove from the front yard...

Next, I'll install that new water valve and try a fill test. After that will be the big one - a full-cycle wash test!!

Dominion Day!

I've been down in Ogden since the long Canada Day weekend (preparing for a mega garage sale with my neighbours) and since Canada Day was once known as Dominion Day, well I just had to take a run at getting the 58 Dominion Automatic to fill by itself.

The NOS three-solenoid water valve I got in June for this machine was not a direct replacement, alas. The first attempts to use it to fill the machine resulted in a tub only 3/4 full of water. We can't have THAT now, can we? I bounced ideas around with John (combo52) and Phil (philr) about this - I should, thanks to John, be able to rebuild the original valve soon, but for the moment, I tried swapping the flow washers from the old valve into the new one. It did the trick! However, I was still not happy with the temperature of the warm water selection... I tried shifting the wiring on the solenoids around in various combinations and permutations but it just made things worse. I fiddled, futzed, finagled for forever... After so much f-ing around, I said 'Forget this!' and decided to reinstall the valve in an 'almost working' state.

HA!

Had I bothered to look at the positioning of the solenoids on the NOS valve, I might have noticed that when reinstalled the terminals for the warm solenoid would touch the wash tub. Real smart of me... OY!! I flipped it around and had to re-arrange the wiring to suit. Well, I lost whatever warm wash options I may have had... The wash came up as Hot (when the hot button was pushed) or Cold (when the warm button was pushed). Rinsing is now only in Cold (but that bugs me less)...

I'll get this right someday soon but for now I had to get the washer back together and out of the middle of the basement floor...

It took me until July 2nd to get this far, but of course I had to shoot a video!!

I'm working on the Maiden Wash video - should be ready this week...

And now....

For a load with laundry!! This is such a fun machine... HEEEE HEEEEE HEEEEE!

I used it again today for a load of heavily soiled clothes needing bleach - the Hot wash, Cold rinse did just fine. The Turquoise Lady K may just start to get jelaous.... LOL

It's only 5 minutes. From how dry the laundry is when the cycle ends, I can't help but think that it's spinning pretty darn fast!

Instant spray in both spins ~ ecstasty!

That immedia-spray, simultaneous with the wash spin, was such a surprise--really!--and to see it again on the rinse spin was sheer delight. Lordy, Lordy, does the Dominion ever rinse; in fact, every rinse in the playbook is present. We rarely see a static overflow AND an agitated one in the same machine. Rinseaholic Heaven.

Have you tried the giant, year-supply, pink bread-box trick on Hubby yet? : ->

The whole movie was so nice, with the "back in a minute" technique like Kevin uses in his food videos, so that the washer filling and the mixer mixing don't eat up the time. Wonderful.

Geez, even if a quarter of the houses in Fergus and Elora had this washer, the water in the Elora Gorge must have been a mere trickle!

Gawd I

just love that lab Knob on the timer!!!

Its cool how at wash/spin and rinse/spin it starts CCW then corrects to CW spin, almost like it changed its mind.

And the "Eat at Paul's" lighted taxi-cab display top is a crowning achievement of unique washer design!!

One very unique machine Paul, great save!! I give it 5 agitators!

Even though the early Tags marked the spray just like the Dominion does, I had no clue it would start right away. Left me gaga.

It took me a few minutes to figure out clock-wise and counter clockwise Jon, but now me noggin' is fully awake. Thanks ~ 5 agitators, indeed.
