I have a new computer and the animated Frigidaire thumper on the first page is not displaying. Instead there is a grey box with the note "a plugin is needed to display this content". Both Adobe Flash and Java are current, does anyone know what plugin is needed?
What plug-in is required for AW homepage?

It's Adobe Flash. I get the missing plugin message, too, and on my browser it states Flash.
You say you have Flash installed, but it may be disabled somehow. There probably can be many reasons why this might happen. I know Flash vanished once for me when I started using a new browser (I think it was Chromium, open source version of Chrome). I never tried changing it--too lazy, plus I've been trying to get away from Flash.

When I use google Chrome,
the washer of the day disappears when I try scrolling to click on it.
I was told that certain aspects are not site specific, whatever that means, and I am not about to try running windows 10 in this slight relic.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, as the problem was indeed Adobe Flash. Turns out there are at least three different types, only one of which works with Firefox. I had installed the other two but not that one. Once I downloaded it, Voila!, I had the jet-cone thumping away on the screen.
It has taken me about two days to get this new machine configured with all the software working properly, which is one reason I don’t get a new computer often. It never ceases to amaze me how glitchy even well established programs can be.

Flash is pretty dangerous, it gets constant updates. It is being replaced by other options. I have my computer set to only run flash if I tell it to, and it's rare that I do.

Hydralique, you're welcome! Glad you fixed the problem.
I've been telling myself for years it's time to update that moving graphic with an animated .gif and not use flash. Hopefully I'll get to that soon.
I have never once had a hitch with any part of the site using Chrome on both Mac and PC platforms.
AW has got to be the smoothest, most elegant and most convenient bulletin board ever. It actually worked fine without the animation but I like the animation, and since I use Firefox frequently wanted to make sure nothing was missing in the event other sites might need the plugin. Never occurred to me that flash came in so many different varieties!
