Hi guys! I'm going to have a small vacation in Leicestershire starting this monday, I'd be curious to bring home some detergents to play with, what are your advices?
Of course Persil is a must (even if in Italy I learnt that we have both Persils under different names, but those could have a different formula), Ariel is sold here too but it is regarded as a cheap detergent, in UK it seems to be top quality, I'm going to get some of that too, and the others? I'm looking forward to get mostly concentrates or tablets because I can only bring 25Kg of luggage, so, please, submerge me with your advice! :)

Detergents I recommend

I recommend

Surf Tropical, its basically French OMO and its a cheaper version of Persil but they have 3 different scents, The Tropical one smells like Pineapples and Mangos, its amazing and very fruity. They do boxes of 9 washes of tablets for £2 in sainsburys/wilkinsons

Daz- I love the smell of Daz its very vintage, has a sort of cottony country fresh scent, and has the philosophy of getting whites white, it works really well at 40 degrees. They do Daz in powder/tablet and concentrated power liquid, they also do a citrus blast scent

I wish they would do 'blue' detergents again! UK Tide used to come in blue, as did Surf and Daz as well as Omo - harking back many years now. Of course, there was Co-op Blue which some older UK members might remember - what a fabulous fragrance that had!!

Paul - I do believe that the Bold Spa Minerals powder is still blue, at least it was the last tiem I used it. The apple powder is green, lavender powder is purple and so on :-)

Coloured powders?!
Cool, I'm going to get some for sure! Here the most is white with blue/green and seldom red speckles...

So if you were me and had an allowance of 4Kg what would you bring back home? :)

Bold powders are white with pink & blue coloured flecks in, although those new infusions ones are coloured. The Jasmine one is completely pink!

Bold tablets and powders

I had been using the Bold Jasmine powder in the large pack, only because it was on special offer in Tesco. 'His Nibs' thought it was too strongly fragranced, so I decided to try another variant, the next time.

Ended up getting Bold 'apple blossom & lime zest' tablets, which smelled okay through the packaging. However, the fragrance off the laundry is another matter: 'His Nibs' decreed that it smelled of 'Ralgex Muscle Rub'! I though it smelled not unlike current Ariel.

You cannot win!

Yes, the I draw the line at Green Bold. Agree, Rolls, is like a much stronger version of Ariel. Mrs NickUK likes purple Bold, and it's rare that she likes anything. Perhaps `his nibs' would concurr??

So, to the OP, maybe `Bold Lavender and Camomile' would be a nice choice.

Bold spa minerals - the blue 'un is the best! Tablets and the liquid (original, not the new 2x concentrate - which smells like Ariel 2x liquid) have the most fantastic scents, really classic!

Oh right - I always assumed Bold powder was coloured, at least it was last time I used it!

Either that or it's the awful lighting in our utility room playing tricks on me lol.

Don't say old age - though I'm having to make a groaning noise now every time I get up from bending to load the washer!

OK then :)
I think I'm going to get a small box of DAZ for the scent (I think that it is like Italian DASH, also from P&G)
Then Ariel, any of them will do (so I can compare to the Italian one)
Bold, the one with the coloured powder (here called Bolt but the powder is white in all the versions)
Then again Surf tablets and to finish all the versions of Persil that I can find up to weight limit :)

Tide

Why don't get Tide back from there?! Here it seems to ther's none left!

Anyway, I knew that even if two detergents are made under the same comany holder, the different brands of them is not only due to the different market which they are destinated for, but either the formula changes (so Daz will be little different from Italian Dash), due to different habits and laundering behaviours of different cultures and nations where the detergents are sold, not considering then that either the machine cycles are different from here to there...

Have a nice holiday Gabri.
Bye Bye

Perhaps there's no TIDE in UK?!

Is really a jungle to undesrtand something in the darkness of the infinitives brand of the P&G and Henkel and Lever and what else is detergent producer!?

I'm confuse....

No we don't have Tide in the UK. It was phased out here be the early 80s. (I think!) Ariel is P&G's main brand here. Some European countries (and others) sell both, but Tide is usually the slightly cheaper brand.
