Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Greg, Don't ask me how I know the date...

It was quite a nightmare finding out... but anyways... the date of my conception the song was... "Don't You Want Me" by The Human League... (shudder) I don't want to think of my parents in that way...

There are so many "William"s in my family... Lets see I have my Great Grandfather, Great Uncle, an Uncle, a Cousin, my cousin's son (second cousin?), and last but not least my grandfather who I was named after (actually I was named after both of them). It can get a little confusing the living Will(s)/Bill(s)/Billy(s) are in the same room.

I've never been called Billy Boo, but my aunt will occasionally call me Billy Bob. I guess she just likes the sound of it, however my middle name is Harry.

"If" by Perry Como

4/5/1951. My OL was a big fan of his. To remark on another member's message, yes I know my conception date, too. I heard this over and over throughout my childhood: "Fourth of July, we could have gone to an air-conditioned movie. Oh, no. Your OM wanted to STAY HOME...."

7-11-1960

"Alley Oop" by the Hollywood Argyles.

I've always had a thing for men who look like they could have been around during the time of the cavemen.

I've heard the song a handful of times, it's a pleasant novelty number.

Say It Isn't So!

But alas, Pat Boone's "Love Letters In The Sand" was topping the charts the week I was born in June 1957. Why Pat Boone? He covered far superior black versions of soulful, emotional songs and made them "Rinso White." Granted, "Love Letters" was not in that category (it was a hit years before Boone recorded it, but as for the other cover songs, time and history has proved me correct. Still, Elvis knocked Mr. B off the top of the charts with "Teddy Bear," so there is indeed justice in the world

Ghost Riders in the Sky, by Vaughn Monroe

Strange, because although I generally do not care for this late-40s, early-50s style of singing, I have always liked Vaughn Monroe singing this song in his incredibly nasal presentation.

Davy1063

Same song here- 11/02/63. Don't really think about it much though. There are so many cooler songs that were #1 on my day:
-Love Me Tender
-Jailhouse Rock (let's face it, anything Elvis!!)
-Mack The Knife (one of my all time faves)
-Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves
-Midnight Train To Georgia (was I REALLY 10 when that song came out???!!!)

Who Is Percy Faith?!

Thomasortega, you really should learn something about this music legend. He was a Canadian born arranger and bandleader who spent his early career working for radio stations, and then began leading bands under his own name. His real breakthrough was in 1960 with "Theme From A Summer Place", which is one of the greatest instrumental hits of all time.

Faith is often misunderstood by those who don't appreciate classic easy listening or "beautiful music" because he did many albums in the late '60s and early '70s featuring his very lush arrangements of pop songs. Sometimes they border on being kitsch, but some of the recordings are quite wonderful IMO. He also did critically acclaimed albums of Japanese music (he was very popular there) and Latin American music. Faith also did his share of film music as well. Overall, he just did a mammoth amount of music and most of it is very high quality - good production values and elaborate arrangements.

9/2/54

It was "Sh-Boom" by The Crewcuts. Never knew this. I always thought it was "Mr. Sandman" by The Chordettes. That would have been more appropriate since sleeping is more or less tied with something else for my favorite thing to do.

Greg, you're only a week outside of Virgo territory, which may be partly responsible for your meticulous approach to the restoration of your place. 8 years earilier on 9/30/55, James Dean met his fate on highway 41 in central California.

Well the U.S. no.1

on my birthday was "Hangin' tough" by new kids on the block. I always preferred "You've got it (the right stuff)" though =P

The U.K. no.1 when I was born was "Ride on Time" by Blackbox. A truly amazing song!
