Well, there was the "Big Load" version with the same control panel/cycle settings. But was enhanced, and made better, with regular and delicate heat settings and regular and extra dry dryness buttons. And the bigger drum. That was around until 1978 or maybe up to 1980s.
Yes, It's the big load version with more dry less dry. I have the 806 model with lighted panels in the desert in avocado green and know it's 1979. I was going to buy the Gas version for LA . It doesn't have the lighted panels. maybe it's not an 806. It's white and has the little door on the front for being gas if that helps.
Mark is right. The *06 and *08 dryers are different. Completely different designs internally. The *06 dryers had a standing pilot light which caused corrosion. Some here either turn off the p/l when not in use or convert the dryer to electronic ignition.
Another thing. The *06 gas dryers had a complicated front felt seal which is no longer available, I'm told.
The 06's were good dryers. It was more trouble to clean the lint filter and the standing pilot wasn't a good thing, but they lasted a long time and dried quite well. The were just barely large capacity enough to dry loads from the large capacity washer.
It is a big load with filter in the front. It's just like the one I have in the desert but doesn't have the lighted panel. It has the little door on the front for it being gas. I guess I was surprised to see the little door on the front. I thought the later gas dryers didn't have these.
