Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

So Lee, these employees who are so ungrateful are all women? They work in a hospital laundry and expect their boss to give them $100 out of his pocket for Christmas and have the nerve to haggle over the amount of a gift? I wonder who they know on their payscale who receives $100.00 from their boss at Christmas. They are so stupid to have given up the $50.00 gift card. They now have nothing. What about the one who gave the gift card to a friend as you handed them out? Is she acting all pissy also? Fifty dollars and they turn up their noses. I am still amazed. Best wishes for a better new year with better employees.

Lee....

You absolutely did the right thing. I probably would have done the same. I look at it like this. When you have a bushel of apples, and just ONE rotten one, it will make the rest go bad, too. You just tossed out 2 rotten apples. Let them be miserable somewhere else. Bitches.

just curious

did they get more in years past? I know in years past, Christmas was much more generous in all arenas. We got parties, lunches, gifts, bonuses. And now it is all very scaled back. They have mentioned having "self-hosted" events, I think that is corp america trying to spiff up the pot luck. Pot lucks at work used to be really fun years ago, now all everyone wants to bring is a big bowl of "screw you."

I tell you what. There is a line long enough to circle the earth of people that would like to have your job, and sad to tell you could do it well, don't kid yourself.

sudsman,

For what it's worth, if I wasn't in school and I lived in your area, i'd be estatic to work in the clean room! As for gifts, I don't get such where I work. I would say those women don't know what they had. But I'm thankful that I do have a job. Judging by the events that unfolded earlier, I'd say that you were on fire!! I hope that the rest if your day is better. I love your machines by the way.

Damn I wish that I had boss that gave out 50.00 dollar gift cards to anywhere. It is good that you got rid of the bad aditudes I know because I work in a place that has the same issues and as some of them are leaving it is getting better. You are a good employer and deserve better.I would give the one that is so good an extra gift card out of the ones that were returned.People have just turned so rude I do not know what the hell is up.Crap like this is how things get ruiened for everybody.Just keep being the good person that you are.

Lee, try to find local Brazilian immigrants in your area to replace those 2 employees.

And let them know there's a brazilian "boss" giving you tips about how do brazilians work. if you want I can also explain them the company rules and I'm sure I'lll have to say only once to get the target you wish.

I'm sure they will be the employees of the decade.

By the way, I'm sorry to say but by the picture I saw, the dirty area is a mess. Competent workers (at least here in Brazil) tend to do their main work and also keep their areas always perfectly clean and organized. The boss usually don't have to ask for it.

My boss became shocked when at my first day as international logistics director (wearing a suit and a tie), I cleaned the ceramic floor, vaccum cleaned the chairs and waxed/polished my desk BEFORE start working. Until today my room is considered one of those pharmaceutical clean rooms wile all the other rooms in that awful building look like hell.

By the way, there's a Paraguayan cleaner at the company... they are not allowed to enter my room LOL. Can you belive she cleans the entire floor without changing the bucket's water? When she reaches the 3rd of 9 offices, that water looks like chocolate with suds.

Oh yes, I didn't realized it before...
No, i'm not obsessive-compulsive.

I just want things clean. I don't think a client would like to go to a company where everything is dirty.

As I spend more time in my office than in my home, why don't make it more comfortable? I'm a human, not a pig.

Isn't nice to enter a room that even the air smells clean?

You'll never see me using one of those steamers to clean the tiniest gaps, but a simple mop by the end of the shift, a vaccum cleaning once or twice a week and some polishing every two weeks won't kill.

It's funny that some of my colleagues always say "i wish I had and office as clean as yours" but they don't even get the dustbuster to vac de debris after eating a sandwich. They just wipe the desk using a dirty rag, throwing the debris on the floor.

I think the most obsessive thing I do is keep a large paintbrush in my personal drawer to clean the computer's keyboard when it's too "hairy".
As I have some hair on the back of my hand and 99.999% of my work is using the computer, it's normal to find some hair "growing" between the keys.

Well, once the cleaner used the vaccum cleaner to clean my boss' room (carpet floor) maybe that was an obsessive moment... LOL

When I saw that, I almost cried.. the vaccum club members would tell the brand of the vaccum cleaner by the HUNDREDS of random brush marks left on the floor.

I couldn't resist. I had to vac his office again just to "comb" the carpet.

Sometimes (if i'm on the mood) i use one of those adesive lint removers on my boss's suit when he has an important meeting. It's horrible to see the CEO wearing a black suit with millions of white lint dots.

He's one of those guys that are "too straight to care about the appearance" so, somebody has to be his personal stylist.

By the way, a long time ago I had to go out just to buy him new socks and until today he doesn't understand why....

black suit, black shoes and brown socks are a little bit shocking.

I also taught him the pot of hair gel is for multiple uses, sometimes more than a month, not a pot per day.

his "wet" look used to be "a little bit" exagerated like a wet cat. now he even knows some fashion and buy fashion magazines.

There's nothing like a queer eye for a straight troglodyte.

Check Those Cards

You may want to check the balances of the cards tha were returned to be sure they were not spent online.

Lee, try to find local Brazilian immigrants in your area to

As long as they're LEGAL, card-carrying immigrants! I think you forgot to include that, Thomas! :-)

Otherwise, contact your local unemployment office and let them know you have openings. You can be pretty specific about qualifications, depending on your state's laws regarding such.

Good luck! Maybe this is the proverbial door that opened after the other one closed!

Panthera-

Please email or call my cell....now. Please.

Lawrence/Maytagbear.

As for Lee's hiring practices (he and I email a couple times a week), I know he only hires documented employees. No employer needs the headache of undocumented workers.

astounded

I am completely flabbergasted, abashed, amazed, astonished, astounded, blown away, bowled over, confounded, dazed, disconcerted, dumbfounded, made speechless, overcome, overwhelmed, put away, shocked, staggered, stunned, thrown for a loop by their ingratitude !!

All ss # are E verify

Before i even waste my time on a application if one does not even sign the app I tell them they are wasting my time and theirs.. INS dist office is only 4 blocks away and I know all 8 of them quite well. And have even called them to the plant 3 different times. Two just flat lied to me and I found out in a background check I turned them both over and had them hauled out.. As a example to all the others.. Do not try to make a fool out of me! I have several ways of checking everything. and I do!

Rich, what I said above applies ONLY FOR LEGALS!

I'm completelly against illegal immigrants.

Thanks to those thousands (if not millions) of illegal brazillians in the US, now it's very difficult to me to get a tourist visa to spend my vacations.

I can't belive brazilian doctors, dentists and engineers leave their careers to clean houses in the U.S. this is ridiculous!

Years ago I had a multiple entry business visa with work permit, but it expired. I was able to spend up to 3 months on each staying. (the work permit was only appliable if working for Elux as an employee transfered between branches around the world).
the first tourist visa I got in the 70's it was very easy to get one.. in 1989 I got this 10 year visa, renewed in 1999 but after 9/11 they voided the visas and I had to apply for anew one.. they cave me a 1 year business visa that I could renew easily.

Now that I left Electrolux, they think that I'm going to leave my family and the wonderful life I have here, everything I could built in 32 years of hard work, at my age and ignore my three college graduations and a post-graduation to work as an illegal cleaner. Ridiculous, isn't it?

Worst of all.. My boss! He owns a 4 million dollars company in Paraguay, everything properly declared according to our local legislation and when he applied fora tourist visa he provided all the required documentation, including the tickets for a luxury cruise he was going to do with his wife to celebrate his 2nd honneymoon and letting his two daughters in Brazil, their visas were refused and according to the stupid agent, he's in good shape so would be easily hired as a gardner. Ridiculous, isn't it?

He tried again and the other agent was very kind, checked all the informations and also asked if they wouldn't like to also get a visa for the two children at the same time just in case they want to visit the US someday. their passports were returned in 24 hours with the tourit/business visa without work permit.

I'm going to apply for a tourist visa in a month or so. I hope they realize that "Hard work" to me means not too much more than fork lifting.
