For the record, those features are what market research deemed buyers want. Most likely the under 40 age set.
If that's so, then society's in trouble for sure.
A lot of younger people are not ones to think past their noses about consequences, and their lack of common sense.
They're born into technology, with their cellphones, apps, computer games, and touch-pads, and "virtual" reality.
I can see clearly what's happening to society, like looking through a window.
And I blame corporations for feeding this crap to the public, caring only about the revenue they'll gain from it.
Again, it's all about control, about conditioning, and leading society into a world of potential doom.

I'm so glad that I'm old and only have whatever time left before I see how bad this all turns out.

Matt, I wouldn't be concerned. Not our problem,. We'll be gone.
But in a way it IS our problem.
Besides it being annoying to us, it's also disruptive to the way we've always lived, and have been comfortable with.
The same goes for all that aggressive advertizing and marketing....
I get maybe 5 minutes of watching a tv show that I'm interested in, and then 5 minutes of several "Won't you Donate" because the poor dogs, elephants, sick children, polar bears, war veterans, starving old seniors, etc etc....
It only costs just 63 cents a day!
Something's wrong with this type of thing.
Thank Panasonic for putting a Mute Button on my remote control!

Not for me. Life is short. I want to enjoy it now. I'm out of the rat race. Any of us can wake up one morning to suffering a T.I.A. like my brother in law Sunday morning. He's only 66. Or a stroke, or coronary, etc. He doesn't care either now. Not watching news, doesn't want to know it.

I'm out of the rat race too.
And I also want to enjoy what I've managed to accomplish over the decades.
Yet, I've got more things that I want to do, which give me a sense of enjoyment.
I'll be 73 in March, certainly not getting any younger, but as long as I'm breathing I'm determined to go on.
Thankfully, I have some family left, and good friends around, which helps.

Vacerator (sorry, don't know your name) I don't know what age you are, but you may be around for a good while longer. In my block, I have four neighbors over the age of 90 - three women and one man -, and two of those are over 95. They all still reside in their own homes. One of my good friends mothers lived to be 95, and his dad made it to within two months of 100, living in their long time home. My neighbor's sister in law made it to 105, so you may have a ways to go yet!

Having worked in market research many years ago, I know how those things are conducted. The client sets parameters of who they want interviewed, such as age, sex, income, location, etc. One of the problems I noticed back at that time (early 1980s), was that most of the participants were suburban residents, and that people living in rural areas were rarely asked to give their opinions, as if they were irrelevant. With much research being conducted online today, that may not longer be an issue.

I'll bet that Market Research is way different currently, since you've worked in it.
Nothing's the same as it used to be.

Most off these quirks aside, I’d like to think some of this annoying over-safety will keep a lot of cars out of the body shop and their mobile inhabitants out of the emergency room…

Let’s admit the need of distracted drivers emerging who need time like the most of the rest of us who feel the crushing lack of us to have a lot to get done and must get from a point A destination to a point B

Sad, but true cars have to be built for this multitasking I’d give anything for there to be enough time to do before or after bearing with these grueling traffic conditions caused by weather, construction or other drivers including ones like themselves…

To me, it’s the coolest thing to drive something that’s not built something the same way it’s been built since the ‘80’s and ‘90’s…

I’ll try to take some pictures but right now what I have is exactly what the car I just leased going in two years ago and even what the past ten cars I’ve drove should have been…

It is nice to have some of this styling and so far seems to be bug-free and albeit what will be overpriced when that first payment becomes due, this being my eleventh vehicle in my name, right down to the white exterior and interior with almost as much red as my first car was in both of those colors but my most-disliked, wouldn’t have, right now, things any other way…
