What year did Sears lose the "Lady" from Kenmore ???

Sears Homart

The toilet, sink, and bathtub in my parents' house are all Sears Homart. My dad installed them when he built the house in '55. They're all turquoise and still in use today.

Allstate . . .

Was more than just a brand of automotive accessories. During '52 and '53 Sears contracted for Kaiser-Frazer to make a rebadged Allstate version of their compact Henry J two door sedan. It was sold through Sears stores and came from the factory with as many Sears and Allstate brand components as possible. It didn't sell too well, partly because most Americans wanted full-sized cars at that time, and partly because most buyers expected to have a real dealership system to support them. Had the Henry J been a more popular car in the first place Sears might have had more success with the Allstate car . . . perhaps they could even have had a "Lady Allstate"!

Coldspot and Maid Of Honor

Here in the tag of my new Kenmore, you can see 'Coldspot' right next to it...,mabye they have to use it somewhere to keep the trademark for the name alive...Maid Of Honor was another name..we had a kitchen timer and a meat grinder with that name way back..

What is...

...LXI?

I remember Coldspot freezers with the little light at the bottom. And some of them locked with a key. When you went into someone's storage room off the carport of into a walk-in pantry it wasn't uncommon to see first the little Coldspot light shining in the dark. I don't remember Coldspot refrigerators.

toilet, sink, and bathtub in my parents' house They&#39

Steve, I'd advise your parents to hire 24/7 security around their house.  There may be a crazy man from Canada lurking about trying to steal those porcelain fixtures come hell or high water.

I know Sears had Roebucks jeans that had some polyester in them that were claimed to be more durable than Levis. JCPenney had Plain Pockets that had the same claim. I always found them rather stiff. Now both stores have Dockers, though I am sure Sears has a private label for them too.

Lady Kenmore and Coldspot

I worked at Sears in the mid 90s and at that point they had gone to using 90 series for all of their top end washers and dryers I believe. The top end electronic machine was "90 series electronic" if I recall correctly. In 2002 when I was in the market for my own laundry pair(I was long gone from working at Sears by then), the Elites were their top end. I had always wanted a top end electronic pair ever since I was kid(remember how Sears used to always put the black electronic pair on the end cap?) however, by 2002 their high end elites were Calypsos and the Salesperson quickly steered me away from them.

As a youngster, we had a Coldspot upright freezer and a coldspot window AC unit in our house. I remember running into the house and cooling off in front of that thing after playing in the yard on a hot TN summer day. While they are branded Kenmores, both my parent's old side by side refrigerator(circa 1987) as well as mine(2005) still say "Kenmore Coldspot" on the model number plate. I always wondered why Sears still put that on after all the years.

Modern Coldspot Fridges

It is true that Sears is calling some of their models Kenmore Coldspots now...but when I looked at them on the showroom floor. the only ones that had Coldspot next to the Kenmore name on the model stickers were the ones that were made by Whirlpool......PAT COFFEY

We were a Wards family so we had a "Truecold" refrigerator and an "Airline" television set (19" and color in 1968!). Can't remember the name of the tool line...was it something like "Skilcraft?" And of course that lovely Norge-made line of "Signature" appliances, etc.!
