What Year is this K.A. dishwasher?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

maybe, maybe not but...

It looks like a KDI-21 but a later version which will probably have the heating/drying element above the sump and the plastic blower assy. That was a later version built by Whirlpool using the full Hobart design. Of course you can check the data plate and it will say if it was built by Hobart on the label. If not it will say Kitchenaid, St. Joseph, MO.

No matter what, you WILL NOT be disappointed with the washing ability of this unit. It is a 21 series derived machine and has the best wash pump design ever. If it turns out to be a KDI22 it will still have that pump with the true garbage disposer in it with the metal drain impeller/ disposer cutter.
It will wash and rinse well as it has two rinses after the washes. Has the short fill purges as well.
The biggest reason I would say that people got rid of them was because the wash arm supports gave out and then the bottom rack would not get washed very well. So check that out as well. The support is technically NLA but there are loads of them out there from many sources. I have a few myself NIB which I keep as spares, as well as complete pumps just in case.
Since it lacks the heating light on the front, it tells you it is the later design and did not stop and heat the water to 140 before continuing. Just filled and heated as it went and comes pretty close to 140 if your water starts out hot enough.
Hope this helps
Steve

I have had two Kitchenaids the first one I found for 25 bucks at a Goodwill. It was in perfect shape it was a 1984 Superba and ran for years. When it went I found one that looked just like it but even though the Hobart pump was there the Heating blower and element was differnt.Well it fell apart and leaked and runied the motor.I am torn between the older ones with the over head rinse and the later ones with the full blown disposer in it.There just so hard to find in good shape.I HATE these water saver washers out now.I had the joy of using that new Whirlpool with the filters and its a JOKE.I don't really get the water issue. The water goes to the sewer and back to the lake after its cleaned. It ant like Gas in a car or what not.
