What year is this Speed Queen from?

I recently starting working for an assisted living facility, and we have tons and tons of laundry rooms. Most of them feature these Speed Queen washers, and even in our own laundry room downstairs. Are these machines still available brand new or is this design more than decade old? Just wondering as I’ve not seen this exact control panel series from SQ before and they look to be at least maybe 7 years old. If anyone knows let me know.

This machine will definitely be my next washer, I’d love to snag one of the nicer ones off the second floor. The ones downstairs have a loud clicking sound during agitation which I can only believe that suggests something is worn. The ones upstairs are very quiet and smooth, I also love how these models have the high speed spin drain and not the low speed like the new TC5 models do, very nice machines.

I’d say mid 2000’s. The serial number will tell exactly when.

This is probably sometime after 2014 or so after SQ changed the Normal" cycle to the Eco based cycle and combined Heavy Duty & Permanent Press into a single cycle. Before, PP had been a separate cycle from the Normal/Heavy Duty cycle.

there are Laundry Systems of sorts that supply places like Restaurants, Nursing Facilities, Hospitals, Military, etc.....

they also supply Laundromats, and units needing coin/card vending.....

in my neck of the woods, for the Eastern Coast, Caleco located in Pennsylvania provides these machines and service....and usually put into use for about 5 years, the length of the warranty period....then exchanged for new ones under a contract.....

the old ones as I lucked out was able to purchase for 25.00 a piece, they were used for the Military....I got these in 2010, the ECO versions were the replacement at that time...I bought 10 sets, still plenty of life in them....

its a constant turn around with these machines and the company that supplies them, there has to be others located across the United States....

find out if these were a flat out purchase, or under a lease/contract, and who supplies them to the facility.....

and as I did, paid 50.00 for a set.....sold them for 400.00, nice profit margin

Nice catch Bob! I guess I should start paying closer attention. Speed Queen was always good at keeping the aesthetics on their machines the same for many years although tweaking a cycle or feature here or there. I didn’t even pay attention to the cycles I just went by the panel design.

Yes I found on some of those supplier websites almost the same model as this, but it’s the one that has no load size selection. We have a ton of those here, and that’s the model I found online that are still for sale and looks I could buy one if I wanted to, thousand fifty bucks haha. Hopefully maybe one day they’ll decide to switch those machines out and I could buy one of them, as I’ve never found this particular model anywhere used. It’s exactly what I’d want in a washer the one showed in the photo I took.

I had no idea that SQ retained the same knob and dial design from the last version of Raytheon machines for so long.   Based on first glance, I'd have advised to run away from those washers.  I'm still skeptical about how well they rinse.  That's one thing that Alliance hasn't improved upon.

 

It's safe to say the clicking sound you're hearing during agitation is coming from a chewed up belt.  We had a '97 Raytheon Amana that ate through belts on a regular basis so I'm familiar with that sound.
