What's the only thing better than brining home a 50's Frigidaire washer?

I'm so glad that rare "diaper-washer" has foun

Hey Gyrafoam, I didn't realize that my '60 Multi-Matic was called a "diaper washer" nor did I realize that it was considered "rare". hmmmmmm...good information....you mentioned that it had 2 other siblings......Were there other models similar to mine? I have the repair-master for this year machine and it lists all the different models but don't quite understand what you meant my "2 other siblings". Also would anyone know what the model number would be for the matching dryer for this model year that I have.....the model number is WD-60.......
I would appreciate any information that anyone could provide....Thanks!
Mark

Very nice Jed. Thanks for the photos. Was the original rinse agent dispenser still in the grey plastic dispenser? The 59 will be a fun machine to have around once you get it finished. And your 55 looks great as well! I'm sure the turn over with the gyrafoam agitator was disturbing :-)

Robert's scan of the Tech Talk article should prove incredibly useful in the up coming weeks.

Ben

Congratulations Jed! Those are two beautiful machines you have there. Love that the 55 looks MINT, and it even works! Did you take the matching dryer too?

Hey Ben, no the little cup in the pulsator is missing (if that's what you were referring to) o well.

Also, if anyone has 1959 FRIGIDAIRE CUSTOM IMPERIAL dryer that they don't want. I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands.

Hey Rick, thanks. As far as the matching dryer goes, it's sitting in the far corner of the garage, power-cordless and unrestored. Longing for the days when I have my own space and I have some time.

One of my favorite parts of the recently scanned doctrine:

"COMMON AGITATOR COLUMN:
ALL MODELS
The same basic three ring agitator column and components,
Figure 6, are common to all 1959 models.
These consist of the gray plastic dispenser, the yellow
neoprene "Lint Chaser" ring, the coral neoprene "Circulator"
ring and the turquoise neoprene cap. In addition,
described next are additional components which
arc standard equipment on Imperial and Custom Imperial
models only.

Did anyone happen to notice the colors that the Imperial and Custom Imperial we're available in, listed in the Tech-Talk???

White, Yellow, Pink, Turquoise, Charcoal Gray and Aztec Copper. This was the first year that Frigidaire introduced their version of coppertone. There were actually two WCI-59s in Aztec Copper on the farm as I remember.

I had no idea they had a copper color that early!
That would really be wild to have a set that old in an original coppertone! I would think the Tub/3-Ring colors would look kind of funky with that background.

My coppertone WCI-63 looks kind of funky with the blue/green rings of that period.
