I remember a tank-type vacuum in one episode and an old unidentifiable wringer washer,THAT GIRL was great fun, Ann Marie had a Hoover Convertible upright vacuum, and a bottom-mount GE fridge. What are your takes ?

One Day At A Time comes to mind....

Hi,

The reason that I bring up this show is becasue it was one of my very favorite sitcom's grwing up as a child. It played in syndication quite a long while it's most recent airing's was featured a few years back on E in the morningtime.

I love Bonnie Franklin, Mackenzie Phillip's,Valerie Bertenelli and Pat Harrington; which were the main characters. I know that many others were featured, but this show reminded me of my mom and my brother and I after she left out dad in 1982. Me being the naughty older kid and my brother the sweet innocent one, and my mom trying to hold everything together.

I used to watch this show religiously and taped as many as I could while it was being played on E! Entertainment television so I could play the show whenever I felt the need to.

Thier Appliances were an unidentified gas stove, a International Harvester refirgerator ( which I think ended up on the show Freinds as I'm SURE that there werent that many floating around then or now).

The vacuum cleaner was one of two during the 1979 season, the show opens credit wise to that catchy theme song "This is It" to show during the middle of the credit sequence, shows Schneider working on what appears to be a MOL Two Tone Green Sears Kenmore canister, while Julie was patting off his head.

In the same season, but intermingled in the script, Ann who was then dating Nick Handris (played by Ron Rifkin), who was her second love since seperating from he ex- husband Ed, who was played on and off by Joseph Campenella, had her first love David Kane ( I can't remembe the actor offhand) Anyway, David comes back to visit and tires to get ann to fall for him again. Nick sees this and there's a tiff between the two of them. In the end though, David realizes that he diddn't really want Ann back, and Nick realized that he was movin way too fast for he and Ann so during all of this Ann has a LOT of onstage Buisness with a Hoover Heavy Duty model 918 I believe.

Later in the series I believe 1982, Ann was newly married to her Daughter Barbara's father in law and they were getting ready to move out of the old apartment. IN the scenes you can plainly see a MOL 70's tannish color Hoover Convertible..aparantly Ann had moved up since 1979.

During the 1977 season, Ann's father,Michael Romano came to visit his daughter trying to pursuade her to move back to Logansport ( which her doing this, had a recurring part in the scripts during the early years)...and she basically said not on your life. He happened to look over at the Old Hoover 918 and said...I see you still got the same old vacuum cleaner...It lasted longer than you marrige! Ann just look at him "grinned with that huge smile of her's and said): "yeah, it had a better guarantee!!!"

I love that show...and see that CBS is getting ready to FINALLY do a reunion show later in the month...I plan to tune in...

Again, My five minutes of blather for all

And it's coming to DVD on March 1st

My favorite TV show is none other than The Brady Bunch.

Can you say AVOCADO?

From the avocado fridge to the Whirlpool washer/dryer set, they had the perfect kitchen. Orange formica and all.

YEAH BABY!

The Romano stove

Hi Chad-I believe the stove on the show was a hardwick-something tipped me off about it. If I remember correctly it had the back removed and was painted in avocado-originally that stove was probably offered only in white-Hardwicks were a budget brand version of Magic Chef. Once upon a time, I was purchasing a home which had one of these in mint condition, but I thought the homes asking price was too high and seller wouldn't come down. I was really looking forward to cooking on it.

I thought Hardwick was it's own stove company out of Cleveland Tenn. then purchased by Maytag/Magic chef in the 80's. I could be wrong. We had a Hardwick "Debutante" gas range bought new in 1966. There was nothing budget about it, though I'm sure it was TOL for it's time. It had an eye level infrared broiler and brushed chrome cooktop. I also remember a "burner with a brain" and a auto shutoff oven. We would prolly still have that stove today if I were smarter back then.

Coldspot

Hardwick gradually improved its line in later years-the Romano stove was from the early 50's. Hardwicks were a no-frills stove in those days. No window in oven, you lit oven yourself, no timer no clock. But the thing weighs a ton, I know I've moved one. Magic Chef's hqs and plant were also in Cleveland, Tenn. I suspect they were one and the same then. Maytag didn't purchase Magic until the 1980's

Chad, David Kane was played by Richard Masur

(In a couple of 1972 Mary Tyler Moore Show episodes she also played Marys mother Dottie Richards).

Luigi, I think Brian Kelly had a good reason why both of us watched Flipper :-)

And David Kane real name is Richard Masur. I thought he was hot then and still do now, a big ol'cuddly lookin' guy!!!

Whitney Blake (the first Mrs. Baxter on Hazel) was a creator of theshow.

Me, I have way too many favorites to narrow it down to my most favorite.

Fav TV Show

Ok, I admit it; I'm pretty dull when it comes to tv. I don't sit down for much of anything. I am usually on my feet in the kitchen (natch) and have that tv on most of the time. Usually I am watching FOX News, HGTV, DIY, or the Food Network. When I need a break from reality it's BBC's Keeping Up Appearances or on rare occasions Mr. Bean, Fawlty Towers, and Are You Being Served. These are old shows that rely on a lot of double entendres, puns, and dry humour; just like me! :-)

I wish Tim Allen had a show on again. I love that guy. The botox scene in Christmas with the Kranks was priceless!

Yeah...yur right on all of those...

Hi again,

The only year that I do not have any episodes from is the first season of 1976. I have some early 1977 series shows where David (Richard Masur) was a part of. In fact one of the earliest shows that I have is of him proposing to her ( for the last time), and their (almost) move with him to California.

Ironically I did used to have a tape that contained the second to last, and last season...but somewhere along the line it was lost or recorded over. This second to last season is when Ann's charachter and Sam Royer (Howard Hessman from WKRP fame) moved to England or something like that for a new job.

The last season was sad, becasue they heavily focused the show on Max and Julie's continuing problem's where she ( Mackenzie Phillips) eventually just left for good..(actually she was back at the drugs that took her from the series the first time around. Where then the series died off with Barbara (Val Bertinelli) and Mark Royer (Boyd Gaines), going thru petty and uninteresting situations with ol Grandma Romano ( Nanette Fabray)...

And If I must, the partner that Ann loved to hate was (Shelley Fabares) who was Nan's niece, and who's character's name was Francine Webster.

I did take a few wuick looks at the several tapes that I have and still couldn't make out the stove...however it's definitly a 50's style and was probably a Hardwick as said. There was one episode that pops to mind where the stove had alot of onstage buisness as well.

Apparantly, Schneider was laid up with back ailments, and Barbara "Helped him" find a suitable helper to keep the place going while he healed. Ironically Barbara found a cute but mentally handicapped guy, who suprised all of them when he shut off the gas valve to the stove, when it was leaking into the apartment.

Sorry Im ramblin about this show... I just love it...

Thanks

Chad

retromom

The Brit shows are among my favorites too! Love the comedies but I miss the old mystery theater with Sherlock Holmes, Poirot, Campion. "Mind the pedestrian Richard"!

The Bucket Residence.........

my dream

Actually I love NBC's current show on Sunday evenings, American Dreams set in the 1960's. I love the story line, moral lessons and vintage settings. I think they have the appliances correct. Saw a vintage Tide box on one set. Great cars too.

Also the music is super, turn the surround sound on.

Them There Hillbillies

I always loved granny's kitchen, I always thought it was more like a Home economics dept. kitchen in high school.
