OK. I happen to find this gadget very appeeling. It is used in the kitchen for food prep purposes. It measures 8" long. I will give you a hint by telling you some things that are written about it in the trade catalogue that would go with this item. "No mess, no water, no more chapped hands" "It's almost human" This probably isn't going to be hard and many of you are probably going to say that you've seen tons of these....maybe not :-)

Have fun and good luck!!

Retro circumcision tool?

{{{Insert Blood-curdling scream here}}}

I'm with Kelley, that looks like a Sunbeam Mixmaster potatoe peeler attachment.

Kelly is right...

It is an apple /patato pleeler that fits Sunbeam Mixmaster models made from 1930 to 1950. It is a very desireable attachemen that works very well. I have a model 7B with this attachment and I love it. PATRICK COFFEY

Sorry about the wait!!!

I had to dig out the mixer :-)

You guys just amaze me!!! So many of you guessed it. Are these peelers fairly common?

Kelly, do you collect mixers? I just ask because of the whole "mixfinder" thing.

Greg, Your guess made me laugh and Onebadcat's answer just scared the hell outta me :-)

This has to one of my favorite attachments. I have been looking for one for a while. One came up on eBay but I wouldn't pay what several others thought that it was worth. When I saw this(plus the pea sheller/power unit) sitting on a stool in a shop...well...I nearly droped the items that I was holding.

I walked out of the store on a cloud!! As I was getting into the car I commented to Chuck "Now all I need to find is the butter churn and slicer attachments". Not more than an hour later we were at a flea market and a dealer had the churn, slicer and juicer in fantastic condition. What a day!!!

AWESOME

I HATE peeling veggies, especially potatoes, but LOVE mashed potatoes and shepards pie and other home, "comfort" foods

I quit peeling!

I love mashed potatos too, but I hate peeling so you know what? I cut the potatos into cubes or so, boil 'em and mash them WITHOUT peeling. Don't the health nutz tell you all the vitamins are in the skin anyway?
More healthy
Less work

What's not to like?

Mixfinder

I was fascinated by mixers and all machinary. When I was 3 and had to be in the hospital, my grandma brought her mixer for me to play with. The nurses could'nt believe it.
In 1957, we got a Dormeyer Mixwell, that didn't. I slept on the kitchen floor that night to be next to it.
As a kid, I learned appliance repair from a gentleman in our town that was a disabled veteran. In the 8th grade a friend gave me a mint Sunbeam model 10, bowls and all. I was launched in a frenzy to convert every appliance we had to Sunbeam.
When I was in college, on a lark, I went to the Sunbeam Authorized repair and was able to put myself through school, working there.
My career in Food technology, manufacturing and styling offered the opportunity to consult, kabbitz, test and even write some of the procedures for appliance manuals.
My obsession with collecting every Sunbeam, Frigidaire and Maytag appliance I could find drove my family crazy. For a while in the 80's and 90's I had a second hand store that specialized in vintage kitchen from the 50's and early 60's.
In the movie, This Boy's Life, with Robert Denero, the pink appliances in the store front window came from my shop.
When evil bay came along, I spent $1,000's buying all the stuff I had been searching for.
I owned every appliance and every Mixmaster in every color Sunbeam and every attachment ever made. I had POS, cardboard store displays, manuals, repair tech books and even Vintage Sunbeam Letterhead. I took a deep breath and sold it all in May 2002 when we downsized and moved to Seattle.
For years I stayed in touch with the good old boys from Sunbeam of the 40's and 50's. I can rebuild a Sunbeam Mixmaster faster than you pull down your trousers.
Now, I have everything Kitchenaid and Cuisianrt for what Kitchenaid doesn't make. As you seen in many other posts, I haul out a Sunbeam Model 12 when I make cakes. The results are vastly superior to the caveman paddle of the Kitchenaid.

I HATE peeling veggies, especially potatoes, but LOVE mashed

Well, Mz Greg...you'll just have to stop over the next time you need your taters peeled :-) Now we can do it the Sunbeam way!!!

David, I have heard that all the vtiamins are in the skin UNTIL you boil them :-)

Kelly....OMG!

You truly are a Sunbeam guru. I bow to you in admiration :-)

What can you tell me about the Toy Sunbeam Mixmaster? I have never seen an advert for it so I suspect that it was made for a very specific market such as a promo of a "just for our customers" type deal. I am eager to learn!!

"I Hate peeling potatoes..."

I get made fun of, I usually use a knife when I peel spuds...Apparently I should use a peeler thingy, but I hate those damn things!
Anyone else have opinions on this...

MaytagMom:
See you were right.. just substitute fruits and vegetables.

Hoover1060: I'm better and faster with a knife than a peeler.
(Surprise surpise, I'm a New Yorker! LOL)

Odd thing is, mom never used or had a peeler, but Yiayia (granny) her mother did!

Oh, puh-leeeeeeze

Like my Rich (perc) doesn't already have a Ro-Ta-To peeler, but the powered one as well!!! Now we have a choice of a veg peeler, paring knife, Ro-Ta-To hand crank, Ro-Ta-To electric, Sunbeam pull-the-damn-thing-out-and-connect-the-thingy-then-clean-it peeler, or.... Potato Buds!!!

Only kidding. I love the gadgets too. I especially love to see how complicated they could make a simple task!!!

:-)
