I have a 1993 Kenmore top load 11092274100, when searching craigslist is there another brand DD besides whirlpool and Kenmore that would also have the same spin/brake tube and center post?
This is what sears-direct says I need: (tube is really the only thing I need.)
Washer basket drive assembly
Parts #: 388952
Substitution: W10820043
Washer spinner support
Parts #: 389350
Substitution: 280184
I have ordered these parts new already:
Inner wash tub, agitator shaft, washer drive block, neutral drain assembly, gear case oil, coupler, Center-post Bearing Kit, all other seals, springs, and pads.
fixing the center post with epoxy/jb-weld and painting in the summer wouldn't be to difficult, brrrr, but not easy to do with the 2 part epoxy pool paint I want to use in these temperatures. So if I could find a free donor washer, I was thinking it MIGHT be in better shape than my 26 year olds.
I want it to last another 26years. The only thing I had to repair on it was the water inlet valve in 2014, so I’m impressed. And I do work my washer hard at times. Loaded to the top, heavy coats, winter suits, comforters and jeans. Not shoved down into the basket, just really fill to the brim. If any of my clothing can’t be washed in hot water, I probably don’t wear it much. I was expecting to see big globs of build up, but there was just a pretty thin layer of build up in spots. Hot water, borax, bleach, or the awesome spray cleaner had kept it to a minimum I guess.
Thanks for any insight you can offer...
And WOW to all of you who have restored some of these vintage machines, the are just beautiful. I think I spent more time looking at your rebuild progressions than looking for a used washer/donor on CL once I found this site. I still have my mothers Electronic fabric care from 82'ish, and will probably should be giving it some tune up attention soon. It heats like the devil.
