Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

My brother-in-law had one of the original 1964 GTOs...3 spd on the floor, and I'll never forget those triple carburetors. He and my dad rebuilt the engine in our garage...I got to scrape the oil pan gasket off...I was nine, my introduction to tearing engines apart. Oh, what a beast that thing was...

Great Thread Steve!

My mom had a Convertible Firebird. I want to say it was a mid 60's model.
I loved that car, even though as a kid I did not know the difference between cars.
It was light blue with light blue interior.
I also remember a RPM gauge that you saw outside that was raised on the hood on the drivers side.
My mom said that she was so upset when my dad decide to sell this car. I remembering her telling me that it only had 23,000 miles on it, and he sold it because he was worried that the top was going to start leaking.

I am so glad to see the vengince!!!! GM deserves going out of business for the wrongfull departure of FRIGIDAIRE!Fortunately,Frigidaire is now one of the leaders in major appliances again.Unfortunately, their quality has gone a bit to the south but,They make great front loading washers, nice electric ranges and still have the all in one refrigerators and freezers going strong!!

I am not happy to see anybody lose their job. That is a tragity. But,my grandfather worked at the (at that time from 1924 to 1975)Chevrolet plant on Broaning Hgwy in Baltimore (Dundalk hon!)where ,at that time, all the Chevrolet products were made.In July,he would take us there to see the new products GM was going to introduce for the fall and FRIGIDAIRE Appliances had their own spot where all their products, brochures, promo items and let's not forget,The FRIGIDAIRE QUEEN was there with white gloves all the way up to her shoulders and a gorgious (usualy pink or turquoise)silk Chiffon dress.I may have seamed lost to her but everyone in my imediate family that went, knew right where to finfd me!Screw the Tempest,Cutless,Corvair,Camaro,Corvette,Firebird,Impala,LeSaber,Nova, skylark,Eldorado and Chevette1 I wanted the DeLuxe,Custom DeLuxe,Imperial and Custom Imperial all in either turquoise, pink or,later down the road, poppy red FRIGIDAIRE APPLIANCES!

While everyone else was marveling over the 8 cillinder engine,I was marveling over the Pull and Clean ovens,Flair ranges,Three Ring Agitator washers,Super Surge Dishwashers,All Season Air Conditioners, comercial washers and garbage disposers. When the World's Fair was in New York in 1965,I went to the GM post and saw the unvaling of the Jet-Action washers and the High Fashion washer, dryer and electric range. That was during GM'S golden anniversary. My daycamp leader(who in my later years I recognised at the PinkHippopotamas A major well known gayclub in downtown Baltimore!!!)and my brother missed out on seeing Ford,Volkswagon,Chrysler and Fiat shows because they had no idae where I was.after leaving the GE booth where they had all the appliances on a revolving stage showing different products evolve from different eras,I was supposed to meet them outside to go to the Chrysler show. As I walked out, there was GM's stall and all it took was for me to see the "F" with the crown on top's emblemm on a flag just under the GM emblem over it to run,not walk, right in like a child lost in the toy department of any major retail store. We were supposed to leave NY to return back to B'More at 4 pm.They didn't find me until 8PM!!!Not only was my leader,Mr.Abe pissed off and scared out of his gord but,my brother was even more pissed off becauseI got to see everything I wanted to as well as get tons of promo items FREE!!! He only got a toy Ford Ambulance and a globe of the Worlds Fair that was $10!!We got home after midnight and our parents were so pissed and oncerned that we never got to go to daycamp ever again. We joined the local swim club and were sent there daily to get out of my parent's hair!!

D'oh...forgot to mention: My brother bought a 1975 Firebird, because of the one "Jim Rockford" drove in The Rockford Files. It was blue with a white vinyl roof...when that vinyl roof started to rust that got traded in for the VERY LAST of the "BIG" Pontiacs, before they began to shrink: a 1977 Bonneville two door. That was an amazing car. Maroon with a white padded "Opera roof" (half roof). Had a 400 cu. in. V-8 w/4 bbl carb. That thing was 22 feet long...and it was only a 2-door! I was the last one in the family to drive it, it was "mine" for about three years. Got rear-ended by a drunk redneck on my way home from work one night in 1994 and it was totalled. What a freakin' tank it was. Starting in 1978, they began to "shrink" the full-size cars.
