I bet it was like an ocean liner....  I have always had a gas range with an electric oven.  Have never cooked with a gas oven.   I remember a discussion, here, several years ago, where someone pointed out the differences in a gas and electric oven.

Does this range have a pilot light?

Godfather stove,

is it 72 inches? Must weigh a quarter ton. Six men to move it, and the two on the sides have to move away so it fits through door ways.

Old Roper Gas Range

It is around 6 feet wide and while heavy it is not nearly as heavy as many of the [ so called ] professional ranges are today.

While it has 8 burners, it has no high-power burners, two small ovens, but it does have a nice big griddle and a high center broiler.

It best feature is the vintage look, other than this you would be better off just getting two 30" ranges and installing them SXS if you are serious about cooking and not spending the rest of your life cleaning an old range.

I'm a serious

cook, and one 30 inch range does me fine. I have a 2007 model year now, and the oven acts up on occasion above 425 degrees f. It shuts down with an F9 door error code. Once it cools down some, it can be re started from 350, and once the cooling fan in the back comes on, it works fine. I have to pull it out of the cabinets to service it, and it is heavy. That's if it is the squirrel cage fan and not the control board.
My step son used to cook with his ear buds on, and he flooded the cook top with oil. Some must have gotten below the right front high power burner knob igniter switch. It caught fire, and the igniters were replaced, but the board may have been further damaged, and is just now acting up.
So I have my eye on a dual fuel Kitchen Aid with the cobalt blue front for the future.

You're right Larry with all those pilots, since pilots waste on average 1/3 of yearly gas usage. You got the equivalent of 2 apartment size 20" gas stoves with a fitted griddle with and upper broiler in the middle. My 30" gas Whirlpool works fine for me but I could easily cook everything on 1/3 of that stove. I would swear if those top burner knobs were turned 180 degrees, they would be the same as the ones on our Kenmore growing up.
