Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Another picture, a few years before the one above (the tree behind me is the one I'm climbing in the previous picture). I caught the snapping turtle in the creek behind the houses across the creek - I caught several: just leaned over the bank and grabbed them by the tail. They could definitely take your finger off if you weren't careful. I actually kept one for awhile and it liked to be petted on the head.

Oh Robert

that smile would have conned me out of anything! I can see you looking past the camera over to the laundry area!

Venus nice leg showin!!!

58limited-- I had a 1958 Corsair,I'll have to dig out the pics on that one. You were playin with fire with those turtles, I don't know about Texas but in NY part of the snapping part is that they move like lightening up here!

Jetcone

I have a '59 Corsair, its in pieces right now (and will be for awhile, I'm sure). I would love to see a pic of your Corsair.

Yes, the snapping part was fast, but they could not bite past the back of the shell, hence the reason I held them by the tail.

My good times

These 2 pictures are from 1967. My parents, Grandmother and I traveled from Anchorage, Alaska to Concord, North Carolina in June of that year (yes that is a 1967 Plymouth Fury III station wagon - my mom's favorite car). My father had orders to got to Viet Nam that September. We lived with my Grandmother for the year he was over seas. In spite of the wild 1960's, my childhood was wonderful. I was blessed to have wonderful parents. The pic of me is from that same summer too in my Grandmother's kitchen. Jamman_98 aka Joe

Nice pictures Joe, hard to recognize you without your fur coat. Was that a GE dishwasher you were standing in front of? Your father was in the Army also. Mine was in Korea for two tours and then in Viet Nam for two tours. I know the last tour was 72-73 and I believe the first one was 67-68 or 68-69.

Rick,

And just what did you do to get kicked out of Catholic school in the 6th grade? Hmmmmm? So, were you hanging out with too many bad boys even back then?

Robert,

Well I know why you weren't interested in Den Fathers. Unlike today, nobody's dad was very sexy when we were kids! At least not where I lived. The look: Bermuda shorts, clodhopper shoes, knee high black nylon socks, burr haircuts, and square horn rimmed glasses. Did our moms think that was sexy? Always wondered. At least I never had to worry about getting any inappropriate bulge in my pants if an uncle or someone's dad picked me up.

Well, actually Gary

I do remember one time, when bulge in the pants was a concern and the Dads were foxes.

I was three, we were living in Kirksville, Missouri, where my Dad was in school, and we were at a huge summer cookout. My Dad and several of his buff buddies, who had no shirts on, were standing around a bunch of grills. Dad was holding me, and he tried to pass me off to one of those gorgeous guys so he could drink his beer and flip burgers. The guy reached out for me. Pitter patter went my heart. Instant terror. I knew I wasn't supposed to feel that way. I knew it would happen if he did it. So I protested, screaming bloody murder. They all laughed at me and thought I was too bashful. Little did they know. :>

LOL!!The bulge in the pants at 3, and you can recall that Steve? I just don't remember anything that far back.

Why did they kick me out of school? Well, there were a few things, or maybe quite a few... I will just tell you the final straw that got me kicked out.
There was an 8th grader named Keith, that picked on me all winter. Pushed my face in the snow, and sat on my back, ect. Spring came so we were outside again for recess. I always liked to skate, and sometimes we would roller skate with those old metal skates that clipped onto your shoes at lunch recess.

To make a long story short:
Keith started trying to trip me, so I kicked him in the balls while I had my skates on.
This event marked the end of my catholic education.

BTW: Back then it did no good to tell anyone that you were being bothered by a bully, as they did nothing about older kids bullying the younger ones. I had told on Keith, but was ignored.

The school did however, take immediate action if a younger kid kicked an older kid in the balls with a roller skate.

Ahhhh... The good old days! <:

Now you post some pictures Steve!

Thank you Venus!!

I got a box of old photos down today and started looking through them. What fun we had taking this stroll down memory lane. This is my high school graduation picture in 19X2 (LOL). So young and so innocent.

Ralph

Let me try again..

Hard to believe I do this stuff for a living isn't it?? I'll follow this with my "What were you thinking photo" in a minute. My scanner duth protest, I guess it wonders what I was thinking too!!

And now the what was I thinking?

OOOOh, those sunglasses!! They look like they could protect my entire face from a nuclear attack or something! I think that was sometime in the mid to late 80's. My brain just can't remember.

Oh Ralph!!

Very handsome high school pic; love the sideburns!

Those sunglasses had a practical side...they acted as mini-windshields during the boat ride. Look mom - no bugs!! LOL

I love this thread!!

Bullying

No, Rickr, even in the 70s up to the 80s, the teachers/principal/whatever did NOTHING to help the kids (like me) that were bullied from day one until graduation day. Chances are they still don't do squat about it.

Hell, I got bullied at a few jobs as well. Imagine adults bullying someone else just like in school.

I agree...

Ralph, that HS picture is amazing, what beautiful eyes!!!

Don't sweat the sunglasses either!

ralph, don't knock the HS pic. I remember that "look" well, it was "hot" back then. You were a handsome devil!! and from what I remember, u still r!
