My inquiring mind has been wandering through Trivialand, once again, and I have a new question.

When did Tappan switch from round gas burner grates to square ones? Was this a 1990s thing, or did the switch take place a little earlier?

Just curious, and thank you all for your info.

I thought the Doughboys had square grates. The little piece of Vicor glass in the middle of the grates for the rear burners was square; weren't the grates square also?
