Where’s Laundtess?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I sent an AW message to Launderess on 4/22 asking her to respond if she could, as several here were concerned about her absence. This was when Sarah’s thread in the green forum went up. Have not heard back from her. Messaged her initially in late March and received a prompt response that all was well with her.

She has mentioned in the past that absences from AW were due to being very busy with work; could be true now, as well.

Sometimes we just have to hope for the best and wait to hear...

Here Is Launderess’s Reply to My PM,

Thankfully, she is OK!

Hell All

Gee it's nice to know one has so many friends out there.

Life (if you can call it that) in NYC at the moment is rather like WWII Europe I suppose. Each day brings ever more restrictions on what one can do, when it can be done and how. Simple things like shopping are now a major effort as finding everything in one spot rarely happens.

Sugar, yeast, flour, toilet paper, various frozen veggies are hard to come by unless one hits a particular shop at right time.

Final insult came early last week with a mandate that all persons going outdoors must dress like the Masked Avenger (wear face covering) in particular going to shops, banks, or anyplace else. It really is all just too bad, thought hasn't crossed our minds but local suicide rates are increasing. Can understand why, it's either being cooped up indoors or going out dressed like something out of Ali Babba and his Forty Thieves.

Launderess

Welcome back Launderess, yes masked avenger outfits are one outfit Hyacinth would really not approve of..but given the level of attack one is required to stay safe..

Nowthen, the Brit boys and beyond have been busy on the Twintub and Easter thread filming the English Electric range of Laundry Appliances for your perusal !!

You may find a new Pfaff Steamer ironer and also Alistair found a new / old / vintage Tricity Bendix Rotary Ironer for your viewing !!

Enjoy !!

Glad you are fine too Laundress!

Sad to learn of any suicides in NY. My cousin hasn't mentioned that to me. She lives in Brooklyn Hts. We communicate via Instagram, as I am not on facebook.
I suppose for those whov'e been well healed most of their lives, losing money is tragic. Having been through losing a good job afyer 31 years in 2007, and a long term relationship prior in the early 90's, you learn to cope, and start over. People matter more than money. I hope all large companies, banks, and Govts. realize this, because when something like this occurs, it is bigger than any of those. We are as strong as our will to survive, and perservere. Greed, conceit, nor idiocy has no place. I think many who wouldn't have paid much attention to your governor before because they considered him to far left, do now.

Suicides.... who ever knows what is going through the mind of some poor tormented soul contemplating checking out of this world. But can only guess many people are either overwhelmed from what they've seen past several weeks, or all this social isolation is praying upon their minds. There is of course real financial worries as literally thousands of persons have been out of work for over a month now thanks to stay at home orders.

Laundress, please don't do that again, stay in touch!!!! Was so worried about you. The social isolation is preying upon many, this isn't normal times, and I think it's here for the long haul. It gets old.
So glad to hear from you, has truly brightened my day.
You stay safe and keep your chin up, remember...we are all in this together.

Barry

Oh, Our Dear Laundress

We were so worried about you. I thought, like some of the others must have, that you were still in nursing. I could just picture you plowing through to save lives.

I am so glad that you are doing well there at ground zero.
Please continue to take care.

Drink your bleach--;-)

Good to hear from you Launderess. Stay safe everyone and check the back of your cupboards, just yesterday found a supply of tinned beans, tomatoes, mixed bean salad and more beans in back of pantry cabinet, of course no yeast or toilet paper just like the supermarket when I checked week and a half ago. I found couple internet bread recipes,-one utube Jenny can cook-using just 1/4 tsp. yeast so I've made bread 3 times with 1 packet, 2 left now.
