Where's the Automatic Washer by - Kelvinator?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Thanks everyone for the congrats and interest in the new Kelvinator - it is fun to find exciting things and the best part is being able to share it with everyone.

The only lights on the panel are behind the temperature and cycle indicators and the flourescent light under the Kelvinator "hood". The center Kelvi crest isn't lit - just a little missing paint.

Ha - that's the best part, I found it at an estate sale that was literally across the street and a block north of the Launderall dealer we went to when you were here in August. He was a Kelvinator dealer after Launderall went down the drain. Now in my basement, this is the farthest this washer has travelled since it left the factory!

More good news - the word is out, three different people called me to tell me about this washer they saw at this sale...

Ohhhh...Drool........

What a beautiful find! I love the lights! And Kenmore is right that script looks just like the one on my '56 GE Filter Flo, I'll post apic so everyone can compare the two.

I can't wait to throw Roberts clothes in and turn it on with TIDE no less!! We can make a suds cake!

2005 is heating up already!

Bethann what 55 machine are you looking for? The Do All Dial model??

The 55 Frigidaire Uni in Robert's basement! In Sherwood Green!
Of course I would love to have pink! Has anyone ever seen a dryer or a washer in pink?

1955 Frigidaire Imperial Set in Pink

Hi Bethann, I have the 1957 Frigidaire Control Tower dryer in Pink and I would just die to find the matching '57 Washer in pink. But as for the 1955 Imperial, I have never seen the '55 Washer or Dryer in Pink. The Kansas State Historical Society museum has the 1956 Frigidaire Imperial set in Pink.

WOW GANSKI!!!!

That is just wonderful!

I love Kelvinators, and often watch the ABC o matic clips downloaded from the museum section of this site.

Maybe one day some one will have put the Aussie Orbital Kelvie out on the side of the road. Who knows where I would put it but it would be such a great day!

Thanks, but wait - there's more!

Come in June to see one (or two) live and in person! We'd love to have you arrrooohhh!!

I can't wait to see this machine in action but I need to finish some work on the 54 Speed Queen washer I started last week. I should be able to do some work on it this weekend so stay tuned!

55 Unimatic colors

Hi Bethann
I think Bob is right...check out this advertisement for the 1955 Frigidaire washer and dryer, they show only white, green, and yellow. Pink may not have been introduced until 1956. The 1955 line was the first year that Frigidaire offered color. I hope you find a Sherwood washer to match your beautiful dryer someday.

Golittlesport Thanks.

Great ad copy and I had just wanted to see the apex after yesterdays POD. Thanks again alr2903

Sure enough!

You guy's are right again! I really thought that I had seen a pink fridge. Good thing that I still wasn't looking for a pink 55 fridge! Would have been looking for a long time HUH! I love the style of the 55's. Does the 55 dishwasher look like the 56?

Kansas Historical Society

I thought we were planning a *gig* to help Bethann *liberate* that pink set from the Hysterical society? Kansas isn't far from Omaha-mebbee that wild Texas bunch can plan a stop on the way to the convention? Lets see, need a truck, a dolly, some sort of diversion...

That would be the talk of the convention!

This really would make a very interesting heist..."Pink 1956 Frigidaire Washer & Dryer Reported Stolen from Kansas Museum of History"...

In the pink!

Perhaps I could get the vapors. You know how delicate we suthern belles are ;)

Bob, Glenn...are you with us?

No problem! A little wash off White spray paint! Pink 56's? All we have here is this pair of White one's! I'm thinking the night time janitor approach would be best! Hopefully Greg has a fire pit out back so we can burn the clothes!

It's mine!

I discovered that set a loooooooooooooooong time ago. It was the first classic American washer I found on the internet. In my Yahoo picture album the map called "My favourite appliances" the washer and dryer are in the first two pictures. Keep your fingers away! Don't touch! Stay away from that washer and dryer! That set is mine! It's mine! It's mine! It's...

....and I thought your favourite appliance was my Whirlpool 40" stove ;)

P.S. Those are some terrific pics in your photo album!
