I do not know of any DU8500 model that came with in-the-door cutlery basket. I think it's a PowerClean instead of a DuraWash dishwasher. If that's the case, you're gonna do excellent.

Depending upon the age, the target set point for water heating option will be either 145, 140, or 135 degrees. A very nice dishwasher.

It's the 1993 version, 135 degree high-temp limit. Does have 3rd level wash for showing water down on the glasses. Still, I wouldn't kick it out of thekitchen for spillin soda crackers all over the floor while tryin to eat en in the kitchen, he he he.

I've had it for a little over a year and I just don&#39

Not to worry. Not all of us here think KitchenAids are the end-all die-all dishwasher and I've used numerous in real-life suburbia in the 1960s and 1970s. Too limiting and confining for me with that woopie one-level wash wonder. Talk bout yibblits!!!

Now I dnn't mind playing with them at wash-ins cuz you basically have nuttin but plates and glasses and a few bowls that can be placed properly. That's why they were called DISH washers. But I couldn't tolerate anything before a KD18 for a daily driver. I'd be running it too much with it being wayy too empty and having to be a fuss-budget about loading when I've done cooking. I'd get pissed off and throw it out on the curb most likely.

This one has 2 wash arms, but I don't feel that it cleans anything other than dishes well. Stainless steel pots and casseroles need a scrub either before or after they've gone through. Plus I have kinda thick dishes and they don't fit in too many ways.

I have the 8700. Excellent machine. Play with the options to get the best results. I have no problem at all with cutlery, pots and casseroles coming clean. I have Fiestaware and the only problem loading is that the bowls ride up on each other in the rack, so I load 2, skip a spot, load 2, skip a spot, etc...

Whirlpool!

I had the Whirlpool 8700 in portable. It was the greatest dishwasher I ever had. (sorry I gave it up)
When I remodeled my kitchen people talked me into getting tall tub design. I like my GE tall tub but it still can't compare to the power clean whirlpool.

Even with the tower, it was great space-wise and loading-wise.

I AGREE. I'm sad I left it behind when I sold my place. Good luck with it!
