Hey guys! I have a Whirlpool belt drive model LHA 5580. It works perfect and has not had any issues until recently. I was on vacation and when I came back it started to squeal like a loose belt when it starts to spin. After the first load it stopped. I pulled it out and looked underneath it. There are no leaks or anything. The belt looks like it might be worn a little. I’m not sure how old the belt is. Any ideas? If it is the belt where do I get a replacement. I didn’t see any part numbers on it. Thanks for the help ! I made a video but I can’t attach it here

95405 is the standard belt for years.

Check if the pump may be binding.  Or if the belt may need a bit of tightening.  Tightening the belt is via the service panel.  Loosen both both nuts that anchor the motor brackets to the baseplate.  Place a pry-bar (such as a hammer handle) between the brackets and pull back to apply just enough tension to the belt, tighten the back bolt while holding the tension, then tighten the other bolt.  Don't overtighten the belt, it should flex 1/2" at a distance halfway between the motor and transmission pulleys with 6 lbs of force applied.  Too tight will cause excess wear on the motor bearings, pump bearings, and other components.

Thank you!! I’ll try tightening the belt first. I’ll check the pump as well. It seems to be ok from what I can tell. I’ll let you know what I find out!
