Hello everybody. how are you? what do you like about whirlpool direct drives. I love the sounds they make. My favorite speed is the high-speed agitation. I remember my babysitter had a clean touch pair, and so did my VI teacher. When the machine was in full-speed agitation. I could hear the low F tone of the motor along with the telltale chunka chunka sound. I'm sure the motor was quieter on later models. I'm sure they have heavy motors and transmissions in them. Anybody can correct me if I'm mistaken. To me this was whirlpool's version of the dependable care models. I've used their ultimate care 2 models. Please correct me and tell me what you think. I love these washers.
p.s. I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but I hope this would apply since they've lasted until 2011.

also, I love the sound of the pump aerating

during high-speed agitation, as well as the intense agitation that gives dirt and stains the ass whooping of their miserable lives. Also, I can put a tide power pod in the bottom before the dirty, smelly and stained clothes as well as add downy bliss softener in the dispenser of the dual action agitator. I could set the cycle, temp and size accordingly and pull the knob to start. Example, super plus, cold, super clean/normal cycle. That thunka thunka thunka thunka thunka sound is music to my ears along with splashing of the water as well as the fresh smell of laundry detergent and fabric softener.

One thing I liked about the 2 direct drives I had..or really all of them is how efficient the agitators are with roll over.

They don't really make any sloshing noises or rock the water like the older belt drives but they are fun nonetheless. I thought the turnover was reminiscent of the old Frigidaire thumpers. Steady and continuous.

The Whirlpool direct drives do have turn over just like the older GM Frigidaire washers of the 50’s and 60’s on a small or medium water level. I have some experience with the direct drive washers but I have more experience with the belt drive washers since I owned a Kenmore portable washer from 1984 for 3 years now and my latest acquisition was a 1963 Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII set I bought on July 25.
