Mickey that is cool . i can see it looks a lil newer then mine .. my top rack looks the same as yours .. and then the bottom has a bigger open space in the front for pots or bigger things ..
I took my dishwasher and put it in storage for now .. i got a way newer Maytag that im gonna use for now .. i want the whole top for working on as i only have about a 2x2 1/2 foot counter space to work on .. very small kitchen ..

WP PORTABLE DW
Hi Mike there is supposed to be a stationary tube attached to the lower rack that the rubber cap on the lower wash arm swells and seals against in order to force water into the top wash arm, are you saying that yours does not have this ? Smitty has this DW in his house in the BI version, it came with his new house in 1990 and does a great job and has never had a single repair.

Gee, I never knew. Can't imagine how it escaped or where it went. The glasses and cups come out so clean. I'll have to wheel this onto the deck and operate it with the door open and see what happens. What little gremlin has snatched my tube?

Combo are you talking about what is inside mine ??. the same thing ??.. i dont have no tube just looks like a chunk of plastic there .. just like Mickey says the glasses and stuff on the top come out really clean .. it is unreal .. lol

WP DW Upper Wash Arm Feed Systems
The older machines that had a plastic cap in the center of the lower wash arm did not have a water feed tube, they just had a guard like Marion's has to help keep you from loading dishes in the center of the lower rack. All the machines with the expandable rubber doughnut in the center of the lower arm have a stationary plastic feed tube attached to the lower rack to channel the water into a funnel attached to the bottom of the upper wash arm. Mike I have lots of these tubes laying around i you want me to send you one.

oh ok .. at first i thought i was missing the tube .. and then thought well ill run a load and see what happens .. lol.. it works .. i was really surprised ... i even had to look at the pics here to make sure that it was just the water doing it and not needing a tube ..

TUBE or Volcano
Sorry for the confusion. In the middle of the lower rack is a light blue tower about 8 inches high, a tapered plastic mountain or volcano, wide at the bottom and tapering thin, with two plastic fins also tapering, east and west, almost like an agitator, really. How DID I miss it? Probably with the bottom rack pulled out looking all over for tubes and connectors.
I need glasses, and for sure, my not-yet-ready-for-dishwasher-person certification is showing. ;-D

I just got one of these last month and it needs a new coupler but I am having a hard time trying to find the substitution for Whirlpool part number 675447/302902. I ordered W10187809 only to see the drain hose is too wide for the check valve :-( Any help is appreciated!

Hi, if your original coupler had the side swing release lever than your out of luck; it is no longer avail from Whirlpool. Not sure where you could get it. If the original is more like the traditional pull down collar than you can install almost anyone of the currently available replacements; if the connection for the drain port on the pump is too wide, just cut off the wider section and then attach. The turbo pump did have a smaller diameter outlet port; it should fit the reduced section of the drain hose nicely.
You can also substitute this setup for the side swing collar release, except your coupler will be too big for the recessed storage slot. It will stick out about 2.5 inches.
These are great machines! Good luck & would love to see some pics!

Did Whirlpool really have a dishwasher with a motor that had two speeds?I have never heard of that at all with old machines that is.
My L.G. has variable speeds but I would not call it a dishwasher at all more of a plate wetter but that is about it.
Most the old dishwashers for china cycle did just cut the time short that is it.That is a neat dishwasher wish I could find one
and a Whirlpool disposer also that is one thing I have never seen..Thanks for the pics.

2 Speed WP DWs ?
They did have a reduced water pressure on the Crystal and China cycle but they they did not have a 2SP motor, rather they did it by aerating the water circulation of the main wash pump. On the late 60s models they had a solenoid valve that opened to allow air to enter the wash pump intake { GE also did this on some TOL models around this time, only they opened a little rubber tube directly via the push-button cycle selector that allowed air in ] and when WP changed to the Delco Turbo pump around 1970 they just used a lower fill level which caused the water to aerate.
