Whirlpool Dishwasher - Squirt into the hole...

I have a friend who has one of the older Whirlpool dishwasher models which has a full upper wash arm, and a tube in the lower rack to allow for a jet of water from the lower arm to inject into the bottom/center of the top wash arm. I've never understood how that could be effective. How effective eight to ten smaller jets be if the water is injected to the arm by one large jet? Anyway, I've You-tubed and Googled around but haven't found any videos of this type of machine and I'm curious if anyone here has seen one? If so, I'd love to see it. I recently found one that shows the interior of a tower machine, (like the GE towers). I used to have the older Whirlpool with the plastic ten-jet wash arm and two-jet tower, which did a good cleaning job. I should have rigged up a video of it...but didn't.

Whirlpool's Jet Stream Column was very effective in ensuring that the water got into the upper arm and it powered the arm and in later models also a deflector at the top of the dishwasher. The PowerClean modules moved 50 gallons a minute thru the wash system and I call tell you when I had my Whirlpool Quiet Partner 2 in my house in Omaha, nothing escaped that wash system even with the silverware baskets on the door. Everything came out spotless in the upper rack. The other thing is that the Jetstream column actually increased the velocity of the water. If you look at the design it funnels the water in the base of the column and tapers top the top. The expanding gasket on top of the arm ensured that full power was applied to the column. Once the water is shot out into the upper arm there is a self centering cone to catch the Jetstream . Earlier Whirlpools didn't have the self centering cone but they were still effective. The cone was introduced when Whilrpool came out with the Thunderbolt arms.

My old apartment had a Whirlpool with that setup. I don't run a DW until it's fully loaded and I don't pre-rinse either. That DW always did a great job cleaning whatever I loaded into it.

not sure about videos......but I have both versions of the Kenmore UltraWash, with center tower, and without......both are excellent beyond belief of cleaning....both convertible models, and running strong....first one bought brand new in 1988, second one I got as a backup should this one ever go...paid 40.00 for it....

I did the test several times of a chocolate cake put inside on a plate.....and completely gone after a normal cycle!....

it would be unique to see a video, but this is one machine I never have to second guess if it's doing a spectacular job!....
