Whirlpool New Front Loader!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

The rep from W'pool either did not know or could not openly tell me exactly who the manufacturer is but was sure to tell me that they are made in China.

Manual!

I did check the manual and do you know whats disappointing is if you use prewash it only adds a soak to the main wash not a seperate fill. But I do wonder about the reliabality of the unit. I hope it's better than their other mini model.

I wonder if this is the replacement for the Malber machines? It must be a whole lot cheaper than the Samsung-made Mini-Maytags. Poor WP, when they first introduced the Malbers, they said that they were an interim machine because the washer and dryer already had UL rating. WP said that parts were not even going to be stocked because it was not going to be sold long enough to make it worth the trouble. They were going to bring a nicer washer and dryer made by one of the European WP partners here to replace the Malbers, but look what showed up! What a world. What a world.

Looks very similar to the Whirlpool units made here. Probably same design as is made in Italy, but made in a Chinese factory. I know the same is true for some of the Australian Whirlpools at least.

New Whirlpool!

Hi Tom,
I don't think this will have anything to do with the Malber new units. I looked at the other website for whirlpool and nothing in combos.

What? A Whirlpool made in China? Looks similar to the Italian produced models lol! I do hope it lasts for a good while without it going wrong.

It's also worth keeping in mind that BSH (Bosch/Siemens) also produces machines in China, I've seen a Chinese produced Bosch washer-dryer on Youtube and it looks identical to the German made model. One thing I did notice about it is that the pump is rather loud, it sounded like something you'd hear in Doctor Who lol!

I do hope the Chinese will improve on quality and reliability of their machines in the future, it's the shape of things to come.

Whirlpool probably can't afford NOT to make appliances in China. The "China Price" can't be matched anywhere else in the world and unfortunately, this price-point in the market is going to China.

I cleaned a vacant apartment for a friend's daughter this week, two years old and all GE appliances. I was horrified at the quality of everything in the building and apartment, but the appliances were certainly disheartening to say the least. Refrigerator, range, micro/hood, dishwasher and full-size laundry. The cabinets, doors, fixtures, flooring and finish work in the apartment were just hideous. I'll bet more than half of it all was made outside the U.S. Absolute garbage.

Amercian Front Loaders With Internal Heaters

If they don't say, have a sneaking hunch that is because they may or may not reach the desired temperature before the timer moves onto the rest of the wash cycle.

IIRC, not to many American front loaders have "dishwasher" type timers where the heating portion of the cycle is held until the correct temperature is reached. Rather things go by pre-set times, if your water temp is too cold coming intot the machine, and it does not reach the proper temp, tough chedder.

Still, to be fair, these units have puny heaters for their size. My small Miele has two 1500 watt heaters, whereas the large Whirlpools are around 1200 watts, IIRC.

As much as I HATE to say this....

Japanese products were shoddy at first, and are now at or near the top in electronics, and perhaps vehicles, etc.
As much as we love to "dis" China, I have a nasty feeling we will have a different attitude towards their quality in 10 to 20 years.
If nothing else, the badly translated instruction manuals are a hoot!
