I'm pretty new to this site and board, but I thought I would share with you folks what I found out this afternoon. I happen to work for one of the larger industrial Parts distributors in the US, and I got a call this afternoon from a fellow at Whirlpool by the name of Ray. With saddness, he told me that Whirlpool Corp would no longer be supporting its aftermarket parts program, starting yesterday. I inquired about appliance parts; he said it is for everything. Sorry for the somber news! This guy was almost in tears......

I don't quite get what you are saying. Aftermarket support means what? What aftermarket parts do they make? You mean they will no longer supply parts? That seems unlikely. Please explain more.

Parts

On older machines they outsource the parts to aftermarket companies. When the timer knob on my '92 Kenmore broke, the replacement was not made byWhirlpool, but another aftermarker company.

That means parts for older machines are about to get scarce.

It was kinda hard to figure out exactly what he meant - because the call wasn't supposed to even come to me. This guy's position in Whirlpool was a contact that we could use at my company to purchase finished goods/parts through. He called me to inform a co-worker that her quotes for parts were to be cancelled with no support through Whirlpool for possible out sourcing. Meaning that we can no longer source parts for our customers through an OEM label of Whirlpool; making it very hard for us to find parts for anything with the name Whirlpool attached to it. I probably should have stated that before.
