Hi everyone,
Last night I was washing a load of coloureds in the Whirlpool and it seemed to be making a screeching noise as the drum was rotating. I thought nothing of it as it has been doing this on and off for a long time.
When it came to final spin, it was particularly loud when it got up to 1200 and when I came to take the clothes out they were oddly warm and had a strange smell which I can't really describe.
Then I felt the drum and noticed it was VERY warm at the back in the middle.
Is this a problem with the bearings or something else?
The machine is only 2 years old.
Thanks

You may be able to find a bearing kit for it, rather than having to buy a new machine. If the screeching noise has been present for a while, the shaft may need to be replaced as well, as maybe the entire tub.

I just tried it on a short 900 spin with nothing in it and the screeching noise was intermittent but the drum did not get hot.
As this is the first time this has happened will the machine need repairing immediately or can it just wait until it goes completely? I'd rather hold out till something special comes up in the area to replace it with.
The machine was free with the house and I would really rather get a new one but not if it is an easy or cheap fix.
