I'm being offered a pair of solid looking old whirlpools without the user manuals. I got these model numbers from the name plates:

Washer: LFA5580WI
Dryer: LDE5750WO

However, I can't find anything on the internet about these two.
I want to know basically how much I can load these with, power consumption and any other detail about the series like year launched and problems I may encounter down the road. I want to know if it will be worth buying the pair. :)
Does anybody recognize the model numbers?

An update...

I got this in the mail from whirlpool:

"... Based on the information you have provided, we were able to determine that these units were produced in 1979. Unfortunately, due the age of these products we are unable to access any product literature including user's manual's. Every twenty years our database is updated to allow room for new product literature information. ..."

Anyone familiar with the LFA series?

The washer would be a belt drive model. Can't speak to the specific model but in general the belt drives are pretty solid machines. Some problems with older ones might be outer tub corrosion around the center seal. Requires removal of outer tub and if the tub is corroded around the center seal, a new one may be difficult to find.
Another thing would be worn agitator shaft bearing and seals causing trans to fill with water and displace the oil causing leaking oil and eventual failure.
Also timers are a common problem.

Dryers are also pretty solid. Common problems would be drum rollers. belts, Idler pulley, motor.

I believe the LFA series is when the baseplate centerpost was shortened such that the bearings are below the water line except on the lowest water levels. The LFA-9800 was the first electronic control model. And LFA is when the Double-Duty "winged" Surgilator was introduced.

LFA-5580 may be an 18-pounder.

We had an LDA-7800 bought in 1976. A neighbor had an LFA-7800. I was a tad distressed because of theirs having the winged Surgilator, which ours didn't. But I like the LDA control panels a little better than the LFA.
