hey guys, my sisters awo3351 ( about 2 years old ) washer wont drain all the water out, it washers and rinses fine. but on the final spin it will leave a littel bit of water in the drum. she says she has checked the filter to see if there is anything cought in side it, she says no. i cant really go look at the machine as i live in leeds and my sister lives in london, i just dont have time to go down yet. any ideas will be very helpful Thanks AmAr

it could be the inlet valves letting water in because if it didn't drain there would be a lot of water!

Could also be a faulty valve between the outer tub and the pump. You know, I mean one of those valves used to prevent detergent loss in the sump. But in this case it would at first drain all of the water and when the pump goes out some of it shoots back into the drum instead of sealing the outer tub.

ill check the machine when i go, i have spare inlet valves so ill take them with me when i go down. ur help is much appreciated thanks: Mrboilwash and dyson 2 drums. AmAr

hi id safely say theres a sock caught in the sump hose somewhere between the outer tub and drain pump,tilt the machine back and its easy to just remove the hose,when i was with whirlpool it was a very common fault,hope it helps

What happens is the pump operates for a set time, the washing machine will only be 'aware' of water in the drum if it's above one of the pre-set fill levels. It's quite possible that it could leave water in the end of the drum if the pump's not clearing the water out quickly enough.

Check the drain hose for any blockages.

If the hose connected into the U bend of a sink, it's quite possible that its being partially obstructed.

Check the filter too. In some machines it's possible to visually inspect the pump's impeller through the filter opening.

A sock or some other small item may have slipped down between the drum and the outer tank. If this is the case, invest in a wash bag for small items!!
