no comparison

There's no other way than stove-top popcorn. Micro and hot air poppers just ain't the same. You'll enjoy it.

My recipe is 2tbsp of oil, and 1/2 cup popcorn. It fills the pot when it's done. That's ALOT of popcorn.

popcorn seasonings

Glenn:

Saw them today at my HEB. They retail for $2.99. There were none of the "sweet" seasonings on the shelf.

I thought I would start out with a little melted butter and some extra-fine popcorn salt, then graduate to flavours. Just wanted to savor the taste of plain, buttered (no coconut oil, yuk) popcorn first. I will pick up some seasonings after the Whirlypop arrives.

If they are any good, I may bring some up to Omaha for the big popcorn party :)

The local movie theater has a selection of Kernel Season's. As I recall, the entire choice of selections was initially stocked, but some weren't popular (Chocolate Marshmallow and Apple Cinnamon, for example). I like the spicy/cheesy selections, such as Southwest Cheddar (which I think is now Nacho Cheddar).

I ordered several online some months ago before HEB was carrying it, for watching movies @ home or in the theater room, but oddly-enough we don't do popcorn very often.

There are recipies and suggestions for other uses on Kernel Season's web.

Hamilton Beach Baconer

"How does the Hamiton Beach "Baconer" cooker work-never seen one-sounds good though-even though the Health nuts say bacon is bad for you-but it sure tastes good and the smell of it cooking is nice as well"

I haven't learned how to "stitch" pictures here, so here goes the first of 3

Bacon machine

Kenmore1978-Thanx saw your picturs of the HB bacon machine-sort of resembles a toaster-like the design-sounds like it would be easy to use as well.Sounds like they should still make those.Pretty neat!

HB Baconer

The picture shows "noram" looking wrinkled bacon but in reality bacon comes out virtually totally flat, like it's been "ironed". Like the West Bend Stir Crazy popper, I like the ability to set it up and walk away. Really helps when some of the recipes I make call for cooked bacon, I can continue preparing the rest of the recipe while the bacon cooks with no attention on my part.

baconer grill

Kenmore1978:

Love that grill! Is it hard to keep clean? We'll be over for bacon and eggs!

HB Baconer cleaning

No, it's actually pretty easy to clean, the cooking surface is Teflon coated. I just scrub it with a plastic mesh or Scotch-Brite type sponge and carefully rinse it off so water doesn't get into the guts.

Bacon & eggs

Sure come on over, I'll make soft-boiled or poached eggs in my Salton Egg Cooker (another device I can set and walk away from)to go with the bacon. Pancakes made on my Westinghouse electric griddle also available. :-)

Bacon in a George Foreman Grill

You can do bacon in a George Foreman grill. You can do 2 slices in the regular version and probably 4 or more in the big version. It doesn't quite cook both sides as the bacon doesn't quite touch the top part so you have to flip it once.

I preheat the George Foreman and when it's hot I put the bacon on. Then I cook the eggs and by the time the eggs are done, the bacon's ready to be flipped. Give it a few more minutes and the bacon can come out. Breakfast in under 5 minutes! Now that's modern convenience!

Quik Brkfst

...hate to admit it, but I "nuke" my bacon and scrambled eggs. Don't tell anybody that I told you ;).

Kenmore1978: Is there a kitchen gadget that you don't have?

The Baconer Grill is new to me. I do remember that both my grandmothers had '70s Presto (?) individual hamburger cookers, though I don't recall them ever being used. Very briefly in the '80s we had one of those hot dog electrocutors, with a plastic lid for watching the Ball Parks plump. Whatever happened to those I'd like to know!

My grnadparents had a Hot Dogger and I have a Presto Burger maker as well. I haven't tried to cook on it but it does get hot when I plug it in, so I'm sure it will cook.

I wish I still had a hot dogger.

I wish I was an Oscar Meyer WEENIE! My parents made me stand in the corner cause I sang that one time. I guess the word "weenie" was a little too offensive at the time, or maybe I was trying for a double entendre >:-) .
