Lately, my one year old Fridgedaire dishwasher has a white film on the inside and anything soft, like tool handles, or black gets this same film. I can't figure out what could be causing it. I'm using a gel pack detergent and liquid for the rinse agent dispenser. I'm considering trying to wash the machine with a bowl of vinegar on the upper rack to see if that helps. Anybody have ideas????

White film on dishes after the dishwasher has been run

Try a different pod in the dispenser a better brand more expensive usually helps.

Other things I can help are putting the dishes in dirty lots of oil sugars etc. actually give a better final result.

You can also try putting a little powdered or liquid detergent in the pre-wash cup.

Wetting agent doesn’t have any real affect on white film, and generally you shouldn’t use wetting agent when you’re using the premium pods anyway.

Hope some of this helps let us know if it doesn’t

Finish Booster

Use 2 tbsp for several loads and reduce to 1 tbsp thereafter. I use this every load. Be sure to run tap until hot before starting dishwasher every time. Pricey yes...I get mine from GE or WalMart online.

Phosphates

Several years ago when detergent makers were forced to stop putting phosphates in detergents, we immediatly started experiencing a gray film on silverware, glasses and the like. Tried everything suggested to solve the problem. Very costly and nothing worked. Then someone told me to use Cascade Complete or Platinum tabs. Problem went a way and have been using it since (many years) with perfect results.
