White Knight dryers Opinions wanted!!

My 'Good Lady' has just had two White Knight dryers donated to her. Both have slight problems, and will need a general servicing. The question is.... Are there any big differences in the 'reputation' of the two models for longevity / reliability?? I only intend to restore the one, and break the other for spares, but which one?? Any and all opinions appreciated.

Dryer 1 is a 427WV Serial 0312-427-15007/21

Dryer 2 is a 44AW Serial 0312-44A-15001/1

P.S. As and when one of the White Knights is 'up and running', my old Hotpoint 9370 will be going to the 'Great Laundry Room In The Sky', if anyone wants any parts.. ;-)

In my opinion white knight dryers are pretty reliable. They are basic and just do a good job. My brother had his for eleven years with no problems and only changed it to another white knight as the dreaded rust started to kick in.
I've had white knight and a few of my friends have without any issues at all

Hi, in my opinion White Knight are some of the best dryers out there. If I'm being totally honest I'd do both up, keep the 44AW as it's slightly newer, and sell the other. They're dead easy to work on!

Hotpoint...could I have a picture of it please?

Update

The 427WV is now 'up and running'. Not had time to look at the 44AW yet, other than to discover that it came complete with some free clothes, which I have returned to it's former owner!!

I'll take a photograph of the Hotpoint today and post here. I think I have got the control panel from a matching Hotpoint washer somewhere, too.....

Here's a picture, still 'in situ' and in regular use. It's not in the best of health, however.... The door switch is unreliable, the 'main' heating element frquently 'earths' and trips the RCD when the door is shut 'firmly', Just age and sagginess in the element, we usually just use the 'low heat' option, which is fine. The casework is getting loose and creaky, with consequent loss of quite a bit of air.

Not really planning on disposal as a 'going concern', unless someone REALLY wants it, but can reserve parts for anyone interested, and arrange to post, or have them picked up. (I'm just off the M6 J16)

P.S. Yes, the trim on left side is missing at the bottom. I have the original timer knob (somewhere), but it is broken at the back, where it fits the timer shaft.

The dial on the dryer - is that off an Indesit L5/6 machine????

Looks very similar if it isnt. Dont throw that away by any means. Our Indesit might be able to use it.

Timer knob

I have no idea what it's off, to be honest!! It may be off another washer, it may be off an old television. I have a strong feeling that it was one of two, and that the other had a flat back, which attached to whatever it used to turn via two small screws.... If that is the case (memory not what it used to be), then I have the pair.
It is chromed metal, probably zinc alloy (too dense for aluminium), as is the other.

P.S. IIRC one or other knob was off a mechanical timer, which only ran for about 4 or 5 minutes.... That is still about somewhere!!

White Knight are decent, made in Yorkshire too. Very easy to repair.

Hotpoint 9370

The Hotpoint has now been parted out, and the casework scrapped. Door, door-seal, wiring loom, belt tensioner, etc. all available. I may consider parting with the motor, but that's too useful (for various projects) to be a 'freebie' ;-)
