Hi guys, I have a question that's been preying on my mind for some time:

I know that White Westinghouse and Westinghouse do not exist anymore as stand alone brands but both are one of the many incarnations of the Electrolux group. It can be easly checked on the US Westinghouse website or on the White Westinghouse of Australia.
In Italy the White-Westinghouse nowdays is almost non existent but there are a few small retailers that have it. As an example my grandma washing machine is White Westinghouse and it was bought in a small chain of supermarkets. SMEG does the aftersale services and also the models on display were the same as the low end SMEG of the time. Same goes for refrigerators. The only thing changed was the logo and the colours, where SMEG has grey or black, W-W has orange or dark red.

So the question is: did SMEG buy the rights to use the name in Italy? Because I know that SMEG is an indipendent and I can't otherwise explain why White Westinghouse is not serviced by Electrolux network if is part of it.

Really interesting question...

Ciao Gabriele,
why don't ask them though?

I remember Whestinghouse was (or at least has been for a short period) the brand of a range of product very similar to Ardo-Bompani-Philco which are Antonio Merloni's brands... but honestly I'm not sur of that...

He has FRIGIDAIRE-ITUS !!!!!

No cure for most but a few, like myself, have found, after decades of research, that L.G,a foreign (South Korea) conglomerate making audio, video, media and major appliances, has replaced the gap. Not that I no longer like FRIGIDAIRE. They're just far,far from being my favorite anymore. From my own experience in sales, service and having my own models to use properly, not abusing accidentally or deliberately. Just last Saturday, while spinning out a huge load of bath linens, the WA2277 took a shit. Apparently, the load was off balance, vibrating so hard that it broke the plastic tube molded on the plastic air pressure valve. So,that entire part needs replacement. I already ordered the part($22) and should get it by Saturday.I only wish that manufacturers would begin replacing plastic back to metal parts. That would avoid numerous service calls.
