Old wives tales by todays standrads
Like never buy a car built on Monday or Friday because the workers were drinking, or called in sick on Friday, and were hung over on Monday.
As for not buying the first model year of a facelifted or quote "new" design, same thing.
I've owned a few, and never had problems. A 1978 Olds Cutlass Supreme was one.
Shorter wheelbase, less weight, but still body on frame, and little changes to the wiring harnesses or engines.
When Ford moved the F-150 to an aluminum body, not that much changed mechanically, or electrically, except for the Eco-Boost feature, and a turbo charger always wears out bearings on higher mileage vehicles anyway. Most customers lease today, so it's only an issue for the used buyers, or those who keep cars a long time.
Ford uses outside tech firms for many things, and response and replies take a long time, as with any large company. Back ground checks for example for new hires.
So, as Chevrolet/GMC, Ford, and Ram sales figures are not drastically widely gapped, I'd get the truck I like, need, or want. Since customer are obviously returning to all three for repeat business, I doubt these are detrimental issues.
