Who wants an early-mid 60's Lady Kenmore Dryer, Chattanooga TN?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

BEAUTIFUL!!

60 I think, but I could be wrong, its been a few years since ive been to that area, there were a bunch of gas stoves made in the Chattanooga /Cleveland area, great place to visit.I would love to hunt around there for a Dixie, Hardwick or a Brown....That would be a great dryer, I believe that one uses a disposable bag for the lint.

I BELIEVE IT'S A '59

I had a 59 Pink Lady Kenmore Gas Dryer.

Looked just like this. I had to give
it away to save it, when I lost storage.

These dryers were 37,000 BTU, which are
WAY!! hotter than anything recent.

My friend has and uses it, as it was
working when I got it.

Man you should see that flame light
off through the tunnel.

A repairman we spoke to about it,
through AW, worked on them in the
day, and said do anything it takes
to keep it going. It was one of the Best.

This is a 1960 Lady Kenmore dryer. The 1959 Lady Kenmore dryer had a row of 6 buttons that visually matched the washer on the left hand side.

Depending on the blower bearing condition, these can either be really noisy or relatively quiet. This is a great dryer that someone should pick up. Thankfully it doesn't use trouble prone rapid advance timer than the 1959 models did.

I love the pastel buttons.

It sounds like this is going to need a new gas valve that won't over heat and damage the clothes and dryer. Also be pilotless operation.

1960 LKM Gas Dryer

This is a pretty Cool Dryer, the entire cabinet was porcelain enamel along with the dryers drum [ very rare to have a porcelain drum in a KM dryer and WP never had one in their dryers ]

These were indeed fast dryers with a 37,000 BTU burner and these DID have electric ignition [ no constantly burning pilot ].

The regulator is part of the main gas valve on these and I dough it is actually what is bad, and a bad regulator could not cause the dryer to run hot or burn clothing.

Hope someone here gets this dryer, if it was a 59 I would get it to use to convert my electric 59 LKM to gas.

OK, I'm trying to see this dryer... any pointers?

Since this dryer has sat a week on C-list and there's been no action on it, I'm trying to arrange an inspection. Aside from the issue of taking lint bags*, is there anything else an era nubie needs to know about these appliances (I was born in 1960, so I don't have experiance with equipment prior to the 1966 model year for Kenmore)

Thanks

*I suppose this was Sears' dryer-equivalent of their new "No Touch" washer lint filter.

"Now that dryer is a Lady! "

I don't know, with all that lip-stick on her face, and her penchant for damaging clothes, she sounds more like a rebellious slut!

And with all that porcelain, we might consider her "big boned"

I thought only Minnesota could have a community named Brainerd. But no, Tennessee has it beat with an East Brainerd.

Is this a scam??

I'm reviving this dead thread because this same dryer is being offered again from the same part of town with the same minimal description. I've written again, once, to arrange and inspection/purchase and I have got no response.

Could this be a scam? How is it supposed to work, and what is the benefit to the perpetrator?

if that persists, I've had this happen to me a few times - and finally gave up...what are they fishing for, emails? Drug deals? SEX? (ha, not sex), people replying with trade offers? Craigslist is a pita, sometimes. If they sold it and didn't delete the ad, who would know the difference if they're not replying to further interest? grrr.

Just out of the blue....have you tried calling the number that's posted in the ad?

Normally they only give you an e-mail to respond to but this ad does also have a phone number.
