Recipes

Anybody like to share any recipes they may have for this amazing machine?

I like puddings, risottos, sauces but want to avoid the drudgeries of standing there and stirring. With automatic living in the Kenwood Cooking Chef this is a thing of the past!

I had read a review by a woman who said she had never used a food processor that didn't clog up on the top of the cutting blades- Me neither. So the first thing I tried was slicing up potatoes for dinner. Look at how neat this is and this is really a silly attachment, its not what the machine was designed for! The disk is practically clean. I dont get that out of my Kitchen Aid Pro!!

Now to get down business

Today we are delving into the cooking feature with tapioca dream and maybe a mornay sauce.

Theres quite a bit of set up as you have to manually adjust the beaters with a supplied wrench before using them and then everything needs a good washing.

The cooking feature runs on induction and if you know me you know I cant get enough of that.

The stirring can be constant, intermittent, timed, counted down automatically, pulsed and it even has a fold in feature!

God bless the Queen and British Empire.

Congratulations! That is a great machine! Did it come with a recipe book? If not, the Australian site has it online,

https://www.kenwoodworld.com/Global/Countries/Australia/pdfs/Kenwood-chef-recipe-book-2015.pdf

There is also a nice recipe book online for older Chefs.

If I had bought one, I would start with my favourite risotto, with fennel, fennel seeds, lemon zest and juice. Ofcourse some butter or a fruity olive oil and lots of parmesan cheese to finish it. It goes wel with a piece of salmon, some shrimps or lemon chicken. But I prefer it without anything else, just a plateful of yummie.

LOUIS

That sounds delicious I will try it. Louis thanks for the website I will get the cookbook as this was a Demo and did not come with one.

I hope its not discontinued. I just saw the All Digital version and glad I got this one as I like dials better.

There is a dealer on ebay selling Demo machines, a LOT cheaper !

The link below is for the 2015 model, maybe they've stopped selling in the N American market?

One vintage mixer I want in the most desperate way is an older Kenwood. Such neat machines and I've heard amazing things about their machines too!

That is a nice machine you have there! I remember way back in the 90's and seeing Kenwood mixers at , of all places, Service Merchandise. They were nothing this fancy though.

I unleashed the shopping beast when I showed Jon the induction control board that failed about 5 years ago. I wouldn’t bother using it for general cooking, but for anything that needs extended continuous stirring, it is perfect.

In the early versions like mine, the cooling fan would leak oil on the control board, causing it to fail. The replacement kit comes with a new style fan and a redesigned board from the later generations.

Jon, May you make lots of delicious thick treats. I do however want to see you use it to churn out 300 cookies like I do. I’ll send you my Anzac Biscuit recipie so we can compare

Combination Kenwood Mixer-Cooker

Very cool, I think tat everyone here knows how much I like combination appliances.

This was the reason I got my Ronson Cook'N'Stir blender, always love things that can do more than one thing at a time or be used for multiple tasks, To me this is engineering at its best.

While I love induction cooking there is probably almost no advantage using induction in an appliance like this that must use a dedicated cooking container and also has complete temperature built in, cleaning the cooking surface and fast temperature would not be an issue and resistance heating would be just as efficient and much more reliable.

To bad that so many cool things like this Kenwood appliance are all made in China, it seems that complated items are too expensive to make here any longer.

What are other AW folks favorite multi purpose appliances ?

That Kenwood mixer has the same sort of blades my Viking has.All SS.The Ronson Cook-&-Stir blenders were sold from lab supplies.Wanted to get one years-years ago from Fisher Science Co-in silver Spring Md but they couldn't sell it to me.Lab suppliers sold those machines.Come to think of it I would have had to buy a case of four!!Have bought other things from them.Would love to see those Ronson machines brought back!Other cooker blendwers sold can only blend or cook but not together.

Kenwood

I recently bought a Kenwood kCook, a cooking processor. It was on sale for €175 ($195), the salesman took another €10 off because it was the last one in the store and the box was just a little damaged. They used to be around €400 here. It's very compact, but big enough for one or two portions of risotto.

There are a few downsides in comparison to more expensive cooking processors (only three temperatures and not a real opening in the lid), but it's really value for money. The newer versions have more temperatures and programmes, but they also have the slicer/shredder tower, I didn't want that, it makes the machine bigger and I have enough machines that can slice and shred.

WOwe

This is something totally lacking in the US market cook N stir tech! I had no idea you have so many to choose from! And thats odd considering risotto has been a rage over since the 90's- its what killed Disco! Red wine and risotto!

Just made a cheddar cheese sauce for dinner tonight --- under 10 minutes-- look at that glaze !
