A few days ago my neighbor Rick set an early 50's Frigidaire 30" range out at the street.

I'd seen this range about five years ago, when I was in the basement when Ann, the former resident, lived there. I though about telling her to let me know if she decided to get rid of it, but it was hooked up, so figured they used it some. A little over a year ago, she sold the house, as she had to go to assisted living. I considered asking about the range, but was busy with other things, so neglected to do so. By the time Rick moved in, I assumed they had already disposed of it. I should have asked him about it, but never did so.

From what I remember Ann telling me, she bought this range as a gift for either her mother or grandmother (don't remember which). It was in excellent condition - if it were her mother's it would have not had a lot of use, as her late 50's house had built-ins.

Anyway, when I saw it sitting out, I was on my way to get my vehicle serviced. I thought about trying to get it, but didn't have an appliance dolly, so it would have been difficult to move. I wish I would have asked my other neighbor Missy if she had one, or could help me move it, but decided against it. I was away until after dark that night, and it was gone by the time I got back. I had decided if it was still there, I would try to get it the next morning, but it wasn't meant to be.

I really didn't need this item, as I need the space. But I would have liked to get it if someone on here had wanted it. I'm not that much into Frigidaire, but still hate that it got away. Now, if it had been a GE 39" or 40", I would have probably cancelled the appointment, and stayed until I found a way to get it to my house!

I learned long ago

I do not EVER pass up something at a estate sale etc or on the curb,,I can always put it back or haul it off, but if you snooze you lose!

Yeah, not so much large appliances. But I look back on a lot of things I've seen in the trash and felt bad that I missed out. Some of it was that my parents wouldn't let me have it, some was after I had my own car and was able to get it but thought "I'll come back later when I have time to get it" and missed out.

But now I rarely see anything in the trash since everything has to be in the can except twice a month on bulk pickup.

I've done the same with thrift stores, but I've learned my lesson there so if I want something, I get it, because the good stuff gets sold fast.
