It seems as of late that my postings have absolutely no relevance or interest to most of the Members on this site.
I've posted about recent finds only to get very little reception at all, although always grateful to those who do comment or reply.
Some Members on here could post what they had for lunch and 25 other Members will reply within minutes.
I post, and nearly nothing. Worse yet, I ask legitimate questions about the machines and even recently about the TSP usage. And did anyone reply?
HELL NO!!!
So why should I bother anymore?
I thought AW.org was a sort of "Family" of sorts who were there for each other when needed for help and advice.
Recently though, I have been completely ignored by most Members and my questions remain unanswered. Therefore, I can only assume that my questions &/or input is neither desired nor wanted on this forum.
I will be removing my profile and will NEVER post on this site again.
I may 'lurk' here and there, but will never, ever post or comment again EVER!!!
Thanks for making me feel like I mattered!

You see, being somehow ignored is still better then being called an communist. (Which actually happend to me on the Deluxe forum.)
Sometimes, there is verry little feedback, sometimes more. And sometimes, like in any good family, there is hell on earth.
Sometimes, you are the odd one out in a family, sometimes you all agree.

I myself have a verry "special" family, so I'm used to such stuff. Some others might not be as used to such behaviour. If you don't want to interact with us anymore, we won't hold you back. If you will ever again feel like doing so, I guess we would not mind.

Cannot think of a nice way of putting things

So will just come out and speak as I find.... *LOL*

As want to happen with any long established group change invariably arrives. Sadly we have lost a number of solid regular posters to the great beyond. Others have moved on to other things and post less if at all.

Doing some research on various subjects/items via Google almost always turns up posts and threads from Automaticwasher. org. However scanning through the posts am amazed and somewhat bewildered by how many names are no longer active.

In lieu of active poster members there seems to be a run up of persons seeking technical, repair or other advice. Sometimes they stick around after getting what they want, sometimes not.

Thing is don't take things too much to heart, and stick with it. I enjoy reading your posts even if don't always have time or something to contribute.

Sorry things have come to this:

There are a number of us who do respond when we have the answer but as we should stay quiet when we do not know.
I will always answer a question posted here if I know what I'm talking about. If I am unclear on the issue I do not respond.
I am sure many others do this as well.
BTW I am alerting our esteemed Webmaster, Robert, of your concerns. If you have been targeted by anyone here he will act appropriately.

If you can't say anything nice, come sit by me!

Works well for random chit chat; but when it comes to serious issues like repair or whatnot, yes, also will stay well buttoned if do not know the proper answer. If can offer a suggestion or remotely accurate something that is inside the ballpark , that is another matter.

Repairs aren't up my street (as the bills from MieleUSA service can attest),so tend to say quiet unless can offer something concrete or point in direction.

Being an "aspie," I have "many and varied interests." I post on a lot of forums, and tend to disappear from some places for a time before reappearing every so often.

If the mood catches me right, I can write till the cows come home... I'm sure members here are rolling their eyes at the sheer thought of "Yet Another Meandering, Pointless Post from Washer111." LOL

When it comes to the Vintage side of things - I quietly watch threads that seem interesting. Obviously I have no skills or knowledge about repair. If I feel my opinion might be useful, one will be posted. Otherwise, my poor keyboard is saved from needless wear and tear.

I suppose that people were taking an interest in your posts, but erred on the side of caution lest 5-10 "Nice, keep up the good work" replies appeared, as they sometimes do. Such posts are nice and all, but don't really contribute anything at all to the discussion.

As Launderess said, its interesting to read topics of years gone by and see the amount of "fun" being had. I've found at almost all the forums I regularly read that most of the "interesting" stuff ceased a short time before I came along. I suspect its just turnover, changing interests and fate (sadly).

As for me, well, my 2¢ have been cast enough that people should get the idea by now... So I don't waste nearly as much time ranting and repeating myself as I used to... At least not on AW! (Yes, you've all been spared - be thankful!)

Personally,

I enjoy the passion some people bring to their latest project. Their willingness to share is great!

At the same time, I'm just a bit more hesitant to comment on projects than I used to be. Especially when one of the resident experts is already involved. They can say it so much better than I can. And, twintubber - your very interesting projects tend to be in areas in which there are real experts here.

Guess I'll try jumping in more - at best, it might help someone, at worst, it'll just get some ladies' panties in a knot and that's maybe not such a bad thing, either.

Like others...I tend to post only when I have a compelling reason. Most of the time, in this part of the forum, it's probably to ask a question. I don't have the practical experience to really answer many questions.

I understand those feelings of people little interested in what you have to say. Indeed, I've sometimes had that feeling, too, about my posts. I took a long break partly for this reason, and didn't feel like I was particularly missed. So...you aren't alone...

Cheer up Twintubber! I, too, have posted stuff and hardly nary a reply. I guess it just depends in the subject matter. As someone state a above, I often feel someone else can say something better than I, esp. if they are more knowledgeable. I do state my preferences however.
And though, I do NOT always agree with some, I respect their opinions, well mostly. Many opinions are from experience. I HAVE learned a thing or two from a few here, and some members really know their stuff.
Hang in there!!

Hi Twintubber,

just some observations from my experience in the UK, I'm not being critical and as laundress has said, all groups change and time moves on.

Most of the UK members are on facebook and seem to keep in touch with one another on there own forums there, I just haven't the time for facebook so stay faithful to automaticwasher.org. I suppose in a similar way, the yahoo groups gave way to this site. Something I believe is happening to all manner of special interest forums, not just us. So fewer people logging on then fewer chances someone will add to your thread.

Does the time of day make a difference?, I don't get to the computer until later in the evening, on a number of occasions I have taken the time to respond in great detail over how to repair something or how something works, the poster of the thread may not check in until the next day, then due to the time differences, posts from around the world (a good thing) will have displaced it down the listings and I sometimes wonder did the poster ever see my reply, if they did they didn't thank me or comment on what I'd written, it's as if my reply has killed the thread off, that doesn't exactly make me rush to reply next time.

And to end on a very positive thought, since joining this site I have met up with and become close friends to at least 20 other UK members, and have spoken to several more, we meet up regularly and chat/text often, so I suppose things we may have posted and discussed on this site in the past, we may well do in person now, which I would say is a great tribute to this site. Therefore the additive nature in which we would check this site has subsided and I may now only look in every few days rather than every opportunity to log on, so therefore I may well miss threads that I could respond to. And so in turn could others.

I suppose what you've given us is a wake up call, this and and other forums don't work if we only view, if we can make a useful contribution then we should do.

All the best to you guys in the US

Mathew

Thanks!

I was thinking the same thing as many of my comments became the "dead end" to the posting. I do understand sometimes I sometimes post in a "direction" away from the main topic and others do too. I am glad to read the response of Launderess. I appreciate a frank, honest message posted. I have no vintage major appliances but have always been interested in them since I was three years old. What amazes me is that engineers still have not gotten it right! Creating durable, effective appliances of quality seems more illusive than ever!

Twin Tubber...

There's always the possibility they got you confused with me. I heard rumors there were a few Twintubdexter voodoo dolls circulating around complete with pins...

In regards to Facebook, unfortunately, it does absolutely not replace a good forum platform. I actually bit the bullet to keep in touch with the transit buffs I know now.

Not NEARLY as interesting as the Australian Transport Discussion Board, which is now home to childish folk who don't know what they're talking about.

You just can't have the same sorts of conversations split up nicely into their own places. It's all one big list to scroll through with no archives or ease of searching.

Really, it's a cop-out.

Borderline wrong forum

I think a lot of posts have to do with interest levels. There are many things I do not look at because of lack of interest. But others that I do.This is what makes this website so helpful to many people.I have helped people on the site,And happy to do it.Sometimes I do not help,We all have a lot going on in our lives. And there may be times I do not post because of my time limits. But it seems someone always jumps in which is great! And to not post anymore is a shame,Someone may need your help someday.FOOD FOR THOUGHT.And this to me is a hairs length away from being on the wrong forum. This could be a turn off to a possible new member visiting this site.I know this is not what I like to see on the Imperial Forum.Just hang in there.ITS ALL GOOD!
