I was at the Mishwaka IN ReStore looking for new storm door hinges.
There's a superba kds21, kinda limed up and the upper rack is not so great on the left rail. It's light tan color. $25
Out back I was looking at stuf by the dumpster. From reading here I recognized the upended washer as a belt drive whirlpool. The wig wag and tranny and clutch/brake were not rusted. Moving the belt moved the motor armature. The panel looked like my moms '92 DD kenmore. The inner basket looked good, and it had a 2 story agitator, the ratcheting kind. It had 2 tubes running from the top down the sides, perhaps bleach dispensers?
Are these belt drives worth having, these newer ones I mean? Do they rust the outer basket tubes as bad as the '50s machines?
I was tempted this afternoon, tempted to hear that wig wag sound, ....but left it there. After all, the washers inside, dd whirlpools, are going for $185 and stink literally. I figured this one must be really bad to be outside on it's face by the dumpster.
I'd need some encouragement to get this.
It would be for my mom to use on her back porch.
