I really like the idea of the cross training, I do enjoy housework, and I love to cook. I told the woman that interviewed that it may sound strange, but I love to do laundry. She replied that it's not strange her husband loves to do laundry, and he does all there laundry. She wants to get a new front loader at home. She also said she would start checking my references first thing, and starting the background check, she had two more interviews that day. I really keeping my fingers crossed on this one!

nothing better than doing what we like at work! i could not handle a job i hated, that's why i quit my job at red lobster after 20 years! i was totally sick of seafood! and the people that ate it!

Don't Be Alarmed By The Backgound Check
It is required by federal law of ALL persons seeking employment in hospitals, nursing homes, etc, for the reason you were given. Laws restrict anyone from being hired who has been convicted of certain types of patient, elderly and other physical abuses, amoung other crimes. Things have gotten so bad that many nursing programs now inform all potential students if they have anything in their background they'd better contact the state board of nursing.

How long after a interview should I wait before asking if the position has been filled? It will be a week this Tuesday I had the interview.

Sending a nice but to the point thank you note after the interview is a nice way to follow up, although the third day is usually the target. I see nothing wrong with inquiring of the personnel director if the job is open. If it is not it never hurts to ask for pointer on future interviews that may bolster your chance at landing a position you want. Eager is good, stalking is bad.

Where I work, the wheels turn slow. Sometimes takes three months or more. I have had candidates turn down the job when we call to offer it to them as they had accepted sometheing else because they thought they hadn't been chosen.
Follow up, and do so on a regular basis until they say "I'm sorry that position is filled." You still have a chance.

I called today, but the woman that interviewed me had already gone home she works from 6 am to 2 pm. I'm going to call first thing in the morning.

Called today still open, and she said that they haven't started going through the interviews yet.
