Wizard Washing Machine

My Grandmother had an Wizard Washing Machine Model A-49. That is one cool machine. Sometimes her washer walks during the spin cycle. I remember when she bought the washer from Western Auto Store. By September 1970's she went to Sears and bought an Kenmore washer.

A neighbor had the Coronado (sold at Gambles Hardware stores) version of today's POD. It had quite a vocabulary of interesting noises, and it also used to walk during moderately unbalanced spins. Their washer was in a hallway, so it would block the passageway when it walked.

i remember the wizard washers

My mom used to have a wizard citation washer. she bought it at western auto store. I remember that it had a burp-o-lator agitator and a lint filter pan it never once made any bad noises, except for the clank of the brake when spin was done, but it worked wonderfully, with one little tiny draw back, it would walk when it spun and as an 8 year old little boy seeing that big green machine coming at me scared the devil out of me, But thats when i started getting interested in washing machines. to the point that my mom and dad bought me a little toy washer and spin drier just so i would leave my mom's washer alone.

monkeyward40, you remind me the same thing also. When My Grandmother started her Wizard washing up, I was fright also. One day she washed whites on of my little boy tightly whites when into the outer tub and water was pour out during the spin cycle. She had to call the repairman up to fixed her washer, and the repairman was laughing to finding a surpise in outer wash tub.
