Found this on Youtube and thought you might like it.... This is a machine that does a wool wash similar to a cottons cycle anywhere else in the world! ( my woolies are cringing as we speak!!!)

Enjoy!

Peter

It does seem a bit rough but on the other hand, my Hotpoint is so far the other way that it is useless at stain removal and rinsing is a joke. As a result, I hand wash the very few woollens that I use and use it to spin only.

Yes, according to modern standards that is quite a rough wool cycle. But I remember many machines that had such cycles for wool. I don't think they were certified for woolens.

Steve,

This machine tumbles probably with a 50rpm speed. Modern European frontloaders have special wool cycles with short tumbles and long pauses and a 25rpm speed especially for woolens.

What was that ball they placed inside the tub? Almost looked like a Downy ball, but I'm sure it was not that.

The Miele I think just rocks back and forth with woolens, it doesn't tumble all the way. This one does seem to fill higher for woolens, which I believe the Mieles do too, unless this is an older machine that has higher fills to begin with.

wool wash

here is the wool wash in my hotpoint - it turns at distribute speed for the whole cycle - and does not stop at all. i believe the thinking behind it is that the centrifugal force holds the clothes against the drum, preventing stretching etc... it is certified by the woolmark people..

WF220's Wools cycle.

Here is Hotpoint's clockwise version of the Hand wash wool cycle, it goes clockwise all the way til the end, apart from the filling and cooldown at the end. Does your aqualtis do the same thing at the end of the wash phase on wools before the drain and rinse?

my aqualtis only sits still at the start of the cycle when the machine is filling, then it goes - sometimes out of balance for the whole cycle!

Hi Chris...

It's funny but you can see the logic in the Hottie on wool wash. Quite a good idea. HAve to say I am finding that Indesit and Hotpoint seem to have some quirky ideas when it comes to washing. Our Indesit has a sports shoes cycle. It keeps them at distribute speed throughout the cycle, keeping the shoes on the drum to avoid damage....Ingenious, i think!!! Have to say though, it is crap at cleaning them lol!

cycles

hey Peter,
the sports shoe cycle that you mentioned sounds just like the wool cycle on my hottie....!!
The cleaning on this cycle is OK but the rinsing is shi#e!!!

All those Hotpoint models do a FAR better job than my Hotpoint on the wool cycle - it fills up to a high level and barely tumbles throughout the whole cycle - the only time it gets animated is during draining and distribution. The cleaning is poor and the rinsing is worse, hence I no longer use the programme. Funny how the same manufacturer used so many different configurations for what is fundementally the same cycle on different models.
